Not great.
We had the bacon and egg burger, the kids cheeseburger, the country fried steak breakfast, and a half order biscuit and gravy.
The bacon and egg burger was the best par of the meal and was pretty solid. It seemed to be unseasoned, but I think this is due to an elderly target market that needs to avoid salt, so whatever, it was worth the money. The fries were fried in very dirty oil at perhaps too low of a temperature. They came out a touch soggy and stained dark brown from the oil. The biscuits and gravy were weird. The first biscuit came out inedibly stale and hard. We sent it back and the second one was okay. Seemed like it may have been from frozen. The gravy was from a packet and they added pizza style crumbled sausage to it, but didn't bother to mix it in. It kinda looked like rabbit poop. I've never seen that before. My wife said the country fried steak wasn't the worst she'd ever had, so that's good. Service was mostly not very attentive. Though our server only had two tables, the other one was quite needy, so maybe it wasn't all her fault.
I will say, our kids were acting up a bit. They spilled some water and wouldn't stay seated, so maybe they just hated our obnoxious family and wanted us to...
Read moreThe nearby diner we usually go to had a long wait so we decided to try Affton diner for the first time on a Sunday at 12. Only about 6 tables of people. The older waitress (maybe owner) was very kind and doing everything by herself in the dining room and rushing around. After ordering we could hear one of the cooks (possibly the woman's husband) yelling at her the entire time. She kept running back over everytime he would yell for her. We could hear him speaking down to her about how she was putting things on the ticket and how she was doing things wrong. You could hear him through the entire restaurant. We felt bad for her. Finally our food came. Scrambled eggs so over cooked they were brown and dry, sausage patties appeared to be frozen and husband said gravy didn't taste fresh, bacon was cold and French toast dry. My daughter had a veggie skillet and said it was good. Untill she found a short black hair in her food (she has long blonde hair). The same waitress when we showed her the hair took the meal off the bill for us. We would not go back. The place could also use a good scrubbing so don't look to closely while waiting. In the future we would just wait for the nearby diner to...
Read moreHad 4 tables already seated when we walked in, were told to sit where ever we wanted. One waitress was cashing out and other was getting stuff at other tables, after about 5-10 minutes of sitting there, girl who was cashing out goes over to the other and asked her if she got our drink order yet, then she comes over, asks what we want to drink, gets the drinks and says other girl will be with you as soon as can and she leaves. Finally other girl comes over, apologizes and takes our order. Got an omelette and a wrap, took about 20 minutes; another 2 tables come in during this time, still only one girl for all; saw one other person a guy cleaning tables; poor girl is having to do orders, take payments and deliver food to all of the tables, cook starts calling out orders ready and girl delivers. She's in the middle of taking orders and cook starts calling out orders and gets upset because he has to say it about 5 times in a matter of 5-6 minutes because she's busy. Food was okay, salty but think that may have been the ham in the omelette and wrap, big portion. Really should have more than one person at the front or the guy could have been doing drink...
