I placed an order at 5:45 AM for two egg soufflés (since they usually sell out fast) and one cinnamon roll. It was a special day for my husband, and I wanted to surprise him with a nice breakfast. My pickup time was 8:00 AM. When I arrived shortly after 8:00, they told me they didn’t receive any egg soufflés on the truck this morning.
If that’s the case, why wasn’t I notified by email or phone before I came in? That’s just poor customer service. I would’ve canceled the order entirely if I had known they were unavailable. And if a location isn’t sure whether they’ll even have certain menu items, those items shouldn’t be listed as available for online ordering.
It honestly seemed more like they sold out, forgot to reserve my items, and didn’t want to admit it. The staff barely apologized, didn’t offer any kind of credit, and just asked if I wanted sandwiches instead. I declined and asked for a refund.
I also specifically requested no plasticware for environmental reasons, but they still included it with my cinnamon roll.
Lastly, as someone born and raised in St. Louis, I remember when the original Bread Co. cinnamon rolls were huge, soft, and freshly made. The ones now are smaller, dry, and look prepackaged days in advance.
Panera has really gone downhill ... cutting corners, offering less quality, and delivering frustrating service. I won’t be returning to this...
Read moreI gave it the extra star because I didn’t eat. Maybe the food is good, I wouldn’t know. I used to go here all the time but when it became as expensive as the sit down table waited restaurants I stopped going. I walked in here today because I needed a meal and it was the only thing around. I walked in and there is no one around anywhere. I can hear people working in the back but no one is coming to the front to take my order. Someone else came in behind me and walked up to a kiosk so I assumed that’s what I had to do. I started, but I had a busy day and I was already annoyed and I just wasn’t having it. An older lady came in behind me and asked isn’t there anyone around here? I said I think you have to use this- and pointed at the kiosk. She said no, I’m not doing that, and started yelling toward the back. Someone making some food looked her way and mumbled something and I just left. I don’t have time for this ridiculousness and I’ll just go to places that acknowledge customers. I don’t know why anyone would think this is what customers would want. They might as well just say leave your money on the counter and don’t let the door hit you on...
Read moreI have enjoyed Panera very much in the past. It seems this location is struggling of late. I work so close. It is ONLY the convenience that keeps me coming back. That and my mocha addiction. I order multiple mornings every week. Today for instance my chips were missing from the bag. Yesterday the bacon was missing from my sandwich, Wednesday there was no condiment on my sandwich or in the bag at all. Monday the bakery item i ordered was not in the bag. One day last month, I got a fruit cup with soggy fruit and it was literally only half full. Even the drink I order every morning is not consistently the same. Sometimes it is very full and delicious other times is just barely reaches the top rim of the cup or it is nearly flavorless. I must be the fool to continue to spend my money and get so little value from it. I would love to see them work on the quality control. There is a nice, loyal customer base here in Affton, please try...
