Ok, so let me give you a little back ground on myself...In my former life, I was a professional chef that owned 3 restaurants/bars, cooked on TV for Bravo and won a couple of national cooking titles---Having said that, I think that gives a least a little qualification to give a review. This place is great! There were many poor reviews on other sites, but one must remember, every new business will have kinks, especially one of this size. Let me break it down for ya: Seats- comfy, could it be a bit more comfy, yes but the theater makes up for it in different ways. Food- I left extremely satisfied. Coming from the food service industry myself as a chef/owner, I was actually a little concerned about their food cost. Meaning, how are they able to serve the quality of food they serve at those prices (comparing food to what you would get at an AMC or Regal). For example, at AMC, a hot dog cost something like 6-8 dollars, here it was 8 dollars but it is served to you on a plate with fries. The hot dog itself was good and the bun was even better! The bun was toasty and buttery like the ones I would find on the east coast for lobster rolls in Maine. The drinks: Solid, ordered 3 and they were all great! I would go into detail about the other 4 items we ordered, but I don't think you all would read it. Lol. Let's just say you must order the Kunafa for dessert (best I've had since my cheffing days) and my least favorite was the cheeseburger sliders (just meh, good quality but meh). Now that I have an idea of what kind of food they are serving, I am going to go back and try the more pricier items.
Now, for the things that can be improved upon: The menus. We just happened to pass a few piles of menus on our way back to the theater which led me to grab one from every pile. I believe we ended up with 4 menus, 3 food and one bar. All of the menus were different. I believe this led to some of the bad food reviews as it seems some folks may have only gotten 1 menu which seems very limited or very expensive (depending what menu you just happen to get). Why not just consolidate all the menus in one? Another con is service. It is a bit wonky, but again, just some kinks the staff needs to figure out. It wasn't bad, our server was great, but my guess is service seems a little wonky to the customer because of a work flow process that needs improving.
To summarize, we used to visit another full service movie theater in Seattle 2-4 times a month called IPIC. For a family of 5, we averaged $280 per visit. At Movie & Dinner, we spent about $150 for a matinee. This included 2 adult & 3 kids tickets, 4 entrees, 3 alcoholic drinks, 2 kids sodas, dessert, red vines and a fair tip. For comparison, during our last AMC outing, we spent about $100 bucks, but w/ no alcohol, 1 large drink, large popcorn, candy and a hot dog. Anyways, to the owners: Don't let the negative reviews get to ya. I think you guys are awesome. Just stay on top of the processes. As I am sure you already know, food and venue can be great, but if service leaves customers annoyed, confused and just plain aggravated, folks will easily settle for less at another business if service there is streamlined and...
Read moreGave Northern Quest M and D digital gift certificates to a couple family members for Christmas and received a $10 bonus gift certificate. I have been looking forward to experiencing the M and D since I heard of its development. I watched Aquaman with my daughter for my first experience. I chose to book our seats online, the site was simple and easy to navigate and I was able to find our movie, time and seats but was unable to find where to redeem my gift certificate. I called the phone number listed to ask for assistance. The representative explained that at this time the option to redeem gift cards isn't available, but she could process my order and hold the tickets at Will Call and I could redeem my gift certificate when I get to the theater. Movie night we were able to easily find parking close to the entrance. Upon arrival to the theater our tickets were there and waiting as advised and the gift certificates were processed hassle free and directed to our theater. Once in the theater, we were greeted by a personal theater attendant who explained the food and beverage ordering process to us. Unfortunately for them the connection between the seat call buttons and the attendants PDA was malfunctioning that night. Its about adapting and overcoming life's unexpected obstacles. We ordered drinks and popcorn, but again another snag. The concession's hadn't started the popcorn yet, so we were told that it would be brought when it was ready. So half way through the movie we still hadn't been brought our popcorn, so I had to ask about for it again. We eventually were brought a small bag compliments of the attendant even though we ordered a tub. But free is free. I also asked for a water when I placed my order, that I never received. Luckily I had napkins in my purse because we didn't get the napkins that we asked for either. It may sound like our movie experience was a total flop but it wasn't entirely. The seats were comfortable and despite the technical difficulties the theater attendant did a good job of checking on attendees and refilling drinks. I like the concept of the M and D and the food and drinks were good and fresh. I enjoyed the option of being served a margarita from the comfort of my movie seat and being served a tasty convenient meal all for a good value. I would suggest that the servers carry extra napkins and straws in their apron pockets. I understand that this is still a new concept and the staff still has a learning curve and I look forward to them getting all of the...
Read moreMy husband and I thought this would be a great place for a long deserved date night but boy were we wrong! It seems like there are more than a few wrinkles to iron out. We started by looking at a photocopied menu that had no visible flow to it. The food was subpar at best. I ordered the steak tacos and a half caesar salad. My husband ordered the American cheese sliders. The waiter was quick and charismatic and our food arrived fairly quickly. The waiter immediately noted that my tacos were not right and took them back because they only had meat and lettuce on them. My husband noticed he got cheddar cheese which normally wouldn't have been a big deal but there was nothing else on the slider but the meat with no seasoning. I tried the caesar salad and there was no acidity at all. It just had a funky fishy taste from the anchovies. My tacos came back and my husband's sliders were sent back. The tacos were dry and had no seasoning whatsoever. No sour cream or guacamole just a tasteless salsa with a little heat to it. I ate and my husband watched. When I was done he got his food back and the fries were not even cooked. The sliders were tasteless. We let our server know about all of these problems and he was quick to try to accommodate us but really dinner was a bust. Your menu needs help and the kitchen needs to season stuff. If you are calling the cook a chef then shouldn't they taste the food first. I understand that you are trying to make food that is able to be eaten during a movie but this was beyond bad. We ate in the dining room and then got the pleasure of listening to the people around us complaining about the food we had already tried so apparently our problems weren't addressed in the kitchen for future orders. We were offered 50% off our bill which doesn't seem appropriate but we didn't want to make a scene so we just paid it. During the movie the waiters kept going to the wrong rows and interrupting our movie experience trying to find the correct locations for their orders. At one point the waiter actually spilled an entire drink on the floor. The whole experience left us wanting to never return. I'm only leaving this review in hopes that you will make some necessary changes in the future so that other hardworking couples that rarely get a night away alone can have an awesome experience not be utterly disappointed...
