I have sold clothes here many times and am always happy with the process. Although, the last few months things have seemed to really go down hill. I dont know if its staff turnover, or the fact that the owner is trying to sell the location, but the experience there has been just bad. The staff is rude, so much so that I got mad at one girl in the store due to the fact that she was rude, rolled her eyes at me when I ask if a change in the process was recently made, as that was not the case in the past, and questioned a used, authentic LV tote I brought in to sell. The previous staff always was curtious and nice, and even if they didn't take something from what was brought in, they always said to bring it back because it would sell better during a different season. The staff now a days looks like they should be working at Platos Closet, vs Style Encore. Today, my mom brought in four buckets of clothes (JCrew, Loft, Bloomingdales, Lands End, Target, Old Navy etc) and of the four buckets, only two were gone though. We could tell they only went through two of the four because the staff just threw the clothes back into the buckets, and the other two buckets still had all the clothes folded neatly the way my mom had put them in there. The staff then told her that the brands she brought in do not sell in that location and took nothing. We had to ask them for the remaining buckets of cloths from the floor as they were too busy talking to each other. they only handed us two of the four back and got upset when we asked them for them. They were also too busy talking about a Marc Jacobs tote that someone had sold to the location, that one of the staff wanted to put away so an employee could buy. Long story short, this is the last time I will be coming to this location. I will be taking my business to the newly opened Style Encore on Sand Lake Road or Clothes Mentor...
Read moreNot quite sure what's happening lately at this place. I've been shopping here for years, because it usually has some great brands for good prices. I have clothes still in rotation that I bought from this store 5+ years ago that are still going strong. Now, when I check the racks, it's mostly Shein and Forever 21. Plus, there's a bunch of Loft and Kohl's stuff, which I can often buy new for about the same price on sale. Personally, I'd rather spend a bit more on clothes that I know will last from quality brands.
It's also a bit confusing how they decide what to buy from week to week. I think this is because they are shifting to buying only "on trend" items, when the fast fashion trends used to be kept to Plato's Closet. It would be helpful if they could post a list of what they're specifically accepting - not just "sweaters," but "cropped sweaters" or "cardigans" or something.
I go in now and then with clothes to sell, and they'll always take a few things and say the rest can't be accepted because they "have too much inventory." During my last visit, they accepted a top I got from TJ Maxx (which I honestly thought would have been too cheap for them to go for) and a Gap shirt (I'm assuming because it was cropped). I think if they focused more on quality, more people would shop their allegedly overstocked inventory. Just because something's trendy doesn't mean folks will want it secondhand. Maybe consider sending fast fashion stuff over to Plato's Closet.
I still find some good brands in here every now and then, but I certainly don't leave with the hauls I used to. I'd particularly like to see the "Coach bags" section of the wall actually have some Coach bags under it, since it's had nothing for a few months, now. I'm starting to wonder if online is the only way to shop...
Read moreIn my most recent visit, I brought in items to sell. When the review of items was finished and I went to the counter to complete the sale, the employee explained how much I would be receiving and why some items were not purchased. I said "okay" to acknowledge what the employee was saying. At the same time, I was reviewing the receipt and realized I was receiving a low offer for two items and asked to remove those. The employee said they had already purchased the items because I accepted. I explained I did not accept, and was saying "okay" as to why not all of my items were purchased. This employee kept repeating I had already sold the items and told me I could buy my items back. I said no and asked what could be done, and the employee did finally adjust the amount I would receive and let me take my two items back. The customer service in this situation was horrible. The behavior felt very bullying and should have been resolved immediately as this was the fault of the employee's misunderstanding. Perhaps employees should ask sellers if they accept the earnings before they finalize the sale so there is no confusion. I will not be returning to this location as a...
