Better Beef Company — Local services in Albany

When Better Beef Company came to Albany I was excited to try them. Once I did, I stopped buying beef from the grocery stores and only from them. There meat far surpasses any grocery store beef in quality and taste. I find their prices fantastic for high prime quality. Now, they have pork! I just got some today and I'm excited to try it. I have no doubt it will have the same great quality as the beef. For comparison in their prices vs local grocery stores, the 80/20 ground beef is $4.95 per lb. When you cook it, it doesn't have near as much fat as other 80/20 I used to buy (for the record, I used to buy my beef from Costco before going here). The flavor is noticeably better and because there isn't as much fat, you get more cooked beef. I love this place! Plus the customer service can't be beat! I'm hoping one day they stock chicken! Really love this place. It's become a staple for our household. Fantastic prices on beef that was raised locally. Better deal on ground beef than anywhere else. Really high-quality options for cuts like filet mignon and tomahawks. Good marbling. Thick cuts. Everything is frozen, so prepare to thaw before cooking. The employees are very nice, we usually see the same one. They have a good discount if you buy a certain amount (points = one time discount you can use on stocking up on a bunch of meat). They give you an insulated bag with your purchase which is one of the best designed insulated grocery bags I've seen (stays square at the top and zips all around). Taste is fantastic. I am a convert from the cheap (apparently needle-tenderized) Costco foreign/imported steaks to this local, great priced, delicious steak. Try this place before continuing with your current "good deal" elsewhere....

We weren’t impressed, at least not in a good way. Bought some New York steaks since they are tender and flavorful, also a cut my chef husband enjoys. When we opened the package, they smelled wonderfully beefy and we had great expectations. We prepared and cooked them as we normally do, however they were quite tough, bland and there was a great deal of gristle that we didn’t expect. The price wasn’t horrible for most New York cut, but for these it was horrible. We may give them another try, but probably not considering how chewy and lacking in flavor...
