On February 10, 2010, while I was getting ready to unload here, I had a piece of crap trailer and the doors were frozen shut, and I was pulling as hard as I could on them to get them to open. They gave an inch and my hands slipped off the cam lock handles and I fell backwards and crushed my skull on the concrete right in front of the guard shack. I was knocked out cold for three hours and woke up in hospital in Boaz. I had a concussion but the hospital got rid of me as soon as they found out it was a workman's comp insurance. I had to get a cab back to Mitchell's. These wonderful people here were so concerned about my health, 5 of them came out to greet me when I got back with genuine concern for my well being. They had worked on getting the doors unstuck and backed the trailer into the dock and unloaded their load and mover it back to the parking lot and locked it up for me while I was in hospital. These guy's are great and I will forever be thankful for them and their help and concern from keeping me warm until the ambulance got there to the next day I was able to try and get back to Florida. I have suffered very badly ever since my accident with a Traumatic Brain Injury, and needless to say I had to take early retirement and have been on Company long term disability and Social Security Disability ever since, with no end in sight and the early onset of Ahzlheimer's I'm facing now. I have no short term memory and am still taking pain injections into the back of my skull for pain management. This is just a thank you to the crew at Mitchell's for help saving my life. God Bless you each and every one. I wish I had gotten your names, but if anyone is still around, they might remember that cold February morning, when they saved my life. And the Guards men were especially nice too. This was my first cyber visit since my accident but I hope to look in again and remember that fateful day...
Read moreMeh. Place is garbage. I have no respect for places that over book, got here at 7:30 am. Appt. At 8:15 am. It's 9:30 a.m. now. I only have 6 pallets. Still not in door. Make realistic appt times. Why is that so hard? If I am going to waste my time somewhere, I'd rather do it at a truck stop where they have proper facilities, rather than at a shipper, where they have out door toilets, where you have to do the walk of shame in front of everyone if you go use it, because everyone now knows, you are doing number 2, if you go to that Porta potty. I'm guessing I'll be here for hours more. As i guessed, been here over 4 hours. Still here. For 6 pallets. This place is ridiculous. Still not in a door. 2:10 pm still here, but at door. They unload you, thalen they count. They won't unload you, and cou t on their time. They count on your time. I hate this place . Just write on bill, subject to count. And...
Read moreFrom the guard who checked me in a little after midnight and told me to get some sleep, once they had a door for me then they would call. He even gave me a quick run down of what I needed to do once I backed into my dock door on the frozen side. To the guys and gals on the dock to unload me, very nice polite and friendly. Smiles and warm greetings from everyone. The yard dogs are very busy all night getting trailers moved so be mindful and stay out of their way so they can get their job done. The sooner they can get trlrs moved the sooner doors come open. I was in a door early and done before my appointment time. Just want to say thanks to the employees of Mitchell Grocery it's nice to have friendly people to work with out here. Merry christmas and...
