Update....I have now been going to Balanced Yoga for over 3 months. I absolutely love the yoga, and I think a big part of that is this studio. Balanced Life offers many different styles of yoga for you to try. My first class was "Fitness Yoga," which does a lot of core work and mixes weight work in with yoga poses. The class is upbeat and fun with lots of modern music and singing by the participants is welcome! Next I tried the "Gentle Yoga" on Sunday mornings. This is more "traditional" yoga with movement through various poses and exploration of the Chakras. This is currently my favorite class. Tuesday has more "traditional" gentle yoga, but if you prefer the upbeat the Fitness Yoga is offered again in Friday nights. I have also tried restorative yoga on Thursdays, which for me was more like using the breath and movement to facilitate meditation. Very cool. And they are adding some classes in different types of yoga starting this month (June 2019).
If you are interested in yoga (and you really should be) Balanced Life has a class for you to try. And if the first one isn't your style, you should explore one of the others. One of my favorite things is how "down to earth" the studio is. I have never felt like I needed to look like the yoga pictures on the internet to benefit from yoga. There is room for everyone and all abilities.
I have been going to Balance Life Yoga for about 5 weeks now. I continue to enjoy the classes more and more as I learn more about yoga. I was an inexperienced beginner, but I never felt out of place or judged. Adaptions are provided for all poses and everyone will feel welcomed quickly by Donna.
Another plus - by my second session Donna...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBalanced Life Yoga is a little piece of paradise. I am not exaggerating when I say that this place has changed my life; my mind, body, and spirit have all been greatly enhanced by the time I have spent at the studio. I attend 3ā4 classes a week, and many times it is the best part of my day. The space is inviting, and the teachers are all extraordinary. Try Janet if you want to feel your whole body singing with delight. Sometimes, I honestly feel like Iāve had a massage after Janetās class. Plus, she gives the BEST guided meditations ever. Take a class with Mataji if you want to work on your flexibility AND your spiritual life. Matajiās joy and happiness are infectious. She is a gorgeous ray of sunshine, and she really shows you the power of yoga to change your thought patterns and your life. Perhaps attend a Stephanie class if you want to learn about the true nature of yoga, classic technique, and the benefits of breath work. Steph is incredibly creative; she crafts these beautiful, complete classes that leave you feeling energized. And the Donna classes are not to be missed. She makes yoga SO MUCH FUN. I laugh and laugh at Donnaās great analogies and comparisons. She keeps you so entertained the whole time, so the class flies by. Additionally, she works every teeny, tiny part of your body; she has you stretch parts of your body that you never really think about. Of course, there are other fantastic instructors at Balanced Life, but those are the four teachers I take classes from. I honestly canāt recommend this place highly enough; this studio has helped my life...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIt's an interesting yoga studio. There appear to be many different teachers, though I've only gone to Donna's classes so far. I did go to a class covered by someone else once. I've only been going for a few weeks. I have no complaints.
I aim to try Paul's class, though it appears to be a higher level class. I find that intimidating, but if you're not challenging yourself you're not growing. Donna has a good sense of humor. You won't find it to be a place of quiet reverence. Frankly, there are jokes. However, I never find it offensive in anyway even though I think I consider Yoga to be a spiritual path for myself. Laughter is medicine for the soul anyway, and you really shouldn't take life too seriously right?
You can obtain a more detailed schedule at the studio. The current discounted price for the 7 class pakage is the best deal in the city. I would know. I liked at almost every studio in the city on Google. If you're looking for a new studio or to start doing yoga, I would definitely give this place a shot. Donna also appears to have a strong love for animals as she runs some kind of service company for them. I know that it's important to some people that their yoga teacher be a compassionate person. That's why I mention that.
I was personally looking for a blend of Eastern and Western styles, and I think I'm happy here. I'll keep going as long as I can afford it. I'm a student, so money's tight sometimes. But on that note, she also has a discount for people who can prove their student...
