I am 4 mo PP & want to give an update as to why I am recommending soon to be mothers to be AWARE of birthing here & who's your L&D midwife. Due to Ms Borders, she jeopardized my pregnancy & almost lost my son due to her malpractice. During my pregnancy with my second baby. I went into the hospital on my 3rd trimester due to contractions that were 2-3 minutes apart. Ms Borders was putting into my reports that I was 35 wks pregnant YET my documents stated I was 37 wks. She stated she's basing from the FIRST ultrasound (that is based off of my assumption of last period) (not basing from second ultrasound that shows exact measurements of baby & shows exact due dates that all midwifes were going off of) Keep in mind. She is not a sonogram technician. She did not once look at any of my ultrasounds. She completely based on dates but acted as if she was more educated than a certified sonographer. Yet she has a few month certificate in Midwifery that's not hard to obtain. She stated that my baby is preemie. Was being extremely condescending & calling me uneducated when I brought in my worries. She said "You need to not rush into giving birth & try to hold him in for a few more weeks" like what? I was potentially in labor, 2-3 minute apart contractions. I was 3cm dilated. & She acted as if I was pretending to try to induce myself (even though I was doing a unmedicated birth 🤨) When I requested to speak to my primary Ms Borders discouraged it & stated "shes going to agree with me too" & said it's her word over any one else's & that she was going to make sure every night midwife would go by her information. So, she was being pretentious & having a power trip over controlling her patients. She took away my rights by trying to shut me up & dismiss ALL of my worries by stating I was uneducated. She did not once look at my babies measurements, did not look at family history, past pregnancies. I had no health issues, no gestational diabetes, no preeclampsia, & no high blood pressure. Multiple times she kept saying that I left dar a luz because of high blood pressure when infact that was inaccurate, I left due to not agreeing with how they were treating their patients & didn't feel comfortable birthing there. She also added random things onto my labor chart, random medications, stated I came into ambulance when I did not. My insurance was charged with random things that I never took. Also. When my son was born. He was born extremely blue & was not breathing. The cord was wrapped around his neck. I had taken him to chiropractors & to his pediatrician appointments & have discussed this with other nurses. They stated that his state, was trauma to prolonging labor. If I waited another day he would've died. Yet, Ms Borders literally pushed for me to not give birth & told me I needed to wait till I was 37 wks. Even though I WAS 37 wks. His measurements showed 37 wks, he was 7 ibs in the last ultrasound. When he was born it was 38 wks & he was 9 Ibs. My last baby was 7ibs at 39 wks. Like this lady literally not only was being abusive but her lack of education could've potentially taken my son.

Not just that but the entire time she was intentionally being rough during checking my cervix. I've never had a midwife be so rough when checking my cervix, she was sticking her entire fist into my bone & pressing down as hard as she could. I know that she was trying to intentionally inflict pain because I was not allowing her to manipulate me & treat me like I was a child. All other midwives were gentle, nice & she had this condescending, pretentious attitude from the start & treated me like I was just below her. Her attitude is not okay. She definitely should not be treating & working with mothers & babies. It's disgusting & not right especially to women who are in a vulnerable state since they're giving birth & don't have the ability to stand up for themselves & defend themselves in that moment. I intentionally choose a midwife for natural purposes & also Midwives are supposed to be an advocate in natural birthing. This was...

Sedated (so they thought) and Robbed @ UNMH ER/Trauma Center

My spouse and I were transported by ambulance on 08/06/23 to the UNMH ER (Trauma Center).  We were placed in different bays, and both got treated in the hallways.  I was aware of what was going on even with the ambulance and ER staff giving me fentenyl for pain management.  I recall they wanted my clothes off and I even assisted in getting my shorts off with my belonging in my pockets, they (ER staff) did not cut my shorts off as the contend (remember this for later on).  Upon arriving, I informed them that I had spinal stenosis, but they didn't seem to care.  They were taking me to get CT scans, and I informed them again, the nurse (Marcos) was shutting me up, I told them that I shouldn't leave worse than I got here.  They were tossing me like a sack of potatoes.   While waiting, another patient came in due to a motorcycle accident with TBI, I noticed 1 employee going through a patients man baghe rummaged and pulled out a plastic box, which looked like Bluetooth ear buds.  They called him and he put the man bag and a pair of shoes ( like size 11 or bigger)in a patient belongings bag and threw it in a cubby under his  desktop.The resident stitched my eye lid and nose.  Upon being discharged  the nurse (Marcos) said l"let me find you some clothes", it dawned on me, why did he say that?  He came back with a paper short and pants so I asked where's my clothes.  He stated they threw them away, and they had to cut them.  I asked what happened to my belongings ( I had a small black binder clip with over $100.00, with some credit card receipts and a key for my motorcycle compartments).  I asked to talk with who's in charge, and a Melissa, the charge nurse, I informed her what happened.  She dismissed my concerns.  She stated, "My employees are honest." I asked he if she was calling me a liar? She, the guy that was rummaging the patients belongings and a heavy set male (I think he was the other charge nurse) they all got verbal over my questioning them.  The heave set male stated, "They had to cut you clothes off. Why would you want them back?"  I told him I wanted my property back.  I asked the charge nurse how do I report this.  She told me to call Patient Advocate tomorrow  (Monday) to report it.  A female hospital security officer passing by, so I asked if I can make a report.  I told her I'll call their office once I was discharged.  I asked the charge nurse if they could escort me to my spouse, she said "no, we are busy".  After a few minutes the nurse (Marcos) said he'll take me.  Once in the other bay, I contacted the hospital security.  A male security officer took my report.  I asked him to look at the cameras, and he stated they couldn't due to HIPPA.  He stated that he would enter into their system and that anyone could help me.  On Monday, my daughter called Patient Advocate and spoke with Nick. He reported they found my torn shorts but not my property in my shorts. My daughter asked to speak with his supervisor, and he stated it was the board of directors and what they would tell you differently.  I also called and left a message with Nick to speak with his supervisor as well as the security officer to do an addendum to the report.  A female security officer answered, and she stated she was new.  I left a message for the male security officer, but no call back yet.

Things are not adding up.  Either there is some organized illegal activity, or nobody cares if you are victimized again by hospital staff.  I am hoping that any and all board of directors look into this activity and crack down on hospital staff and get back with me on the multi-level discrepancies at UNMH.  I bet those cameras would be of value if I were the person in question.

I was very pleased with our first day of service for my son in the ER until the second night when we had a nurse named Deborah who is more concerned about keeping her patient sedated and quiet through over medicating patients and putting patients into un needed restraints making the patient, my son, ten times more aggravated. Then a great doctor came in and saw that he just wanted to sleep on his side and loaned hid left foot and arm to allow him to sleep on side. At that point my son had calmed down significantly until shortly Later, Deborah the nurse came in accusing us of loosening his restraints and breaching their protocol. His heart leaked box had gotten stuck between the bed and mattress so when he turn to his side several of the Leeds came off. She responded this is why we have to keep him restrained so he can take off Leeds. I explained to her the doctor listened them but she didn’t want to listen. Shortly after my son’s agitation grew because he couldn’t sleep comfortably being in a four point restraint with no slack. So then the come in with more drugs to sedate him or what they said safety for the patient. I got my done to calm down again and asked Deborah the nurse if she could please loosen the restraints again like the doctor had already done he would be much more stable and calm. She said it’s a breach of policy and only doctor can make that call even though she already had. She requested for doctor to come see us. Then they came for labs, and 10 min later a another staff member came in and gave more meds to calm him down before giving a shot and did not wait for drugs to kick in and immediately after she gave meds to calm him down sticks him with a needle in stomach. Of course my son didn’t not take all these disruptions well and got more agitated. Then to boot Deborah comes back in with a large male nurse to kicked us out of the ER and banned future visits till we don’t know when. So after being rudely escorted to lobby I said I’m not leaving till I talk to the doctor. About 10 min later a charge nurse comes to speak with use and says since we not only loosened his restraints and even took some completely off we are no longer allowed back and does not know when I can see my son. I tried to explain to her the miscommunication and that the nurse is now lying because when we were asked to leave the room my son was still tightened down to a four point restraint with no slack. We never removed them only untangled them as they got caught under edge of bed making it more uncomfortable for him. I requested again to speak with his doctor and charge nurse said she will get here when she does they are overbooked and short staff. About 30 min later doctor comes out and apologizes she did not inform nurse she loosened his right arm and leg so he could sleep on his side. She stated they are running at 130 percent capacity and do their best to get to every thing and had not had time to call back nurse who also called and left a message with her trying to find out if we loosened the restraints or if the doctor did. She apologized for the lack of communication and and the mix up and told her they just removed his foot restraints and gave more meds for agitation and to calm him down. All of this could have been avoided with proper communication and listening to a family that had been through this process with their son numerous times and knows what works and what doesn’t. As of now I’m still banned from ER and doctors say as soon as he is more stable we can come back. Get your shit together UNM and snowing your patients with medication is not the best approach for all patients. Shame...
