I have been to this restaurant as a kid before the painting and expansion of the dining room. I have to say that the food and presentation has seen better days, but my biggest criticism is the SERVICE IS BAD! I have worked in restaurants as a cook, server, bartender, shift lead, and trainer, but my past 5 or more visit have all been awful.

Awful, awful, awful! I would have to say this place has some of the rudest, non-charismatic and a look of general annoyance out of all the restaurants in Albuquerque. There is some bad places to go eat in Albuquerque, but somehow Saggio’s has officially taken that title for me. Boy, I hate to say that, because this used to be one of my favorite places to eat with some of my best memories. My visits have been further and further apart.

On my most recent visit, me and my girlfriend simply went in to buy 2 chocolate cannolis. With absolutely zero line a woman at the counter saw us come right up to the counter and she turned around and start preparing food. We were not greeted at all or even acknowledge at all. And I completely understand that what she may have been doing was important to her, but customer perception is everything. Come on Saggio’s, that’s Running A Restaurant 101! In the meanwhile the lady kept coldly staring us in the eyes, but still zero acknowledgment. After waiting for about 5 minutes there was now about 3-4 groups behind us in line.

Here’s the kicker, after waiting 5 minutes and having zero acknowledgment, we were standing directly in front of here, she leans here body and head sideways and waves the guy behind us to come up to get him a refill. JUST SAY I’LL BE RIGHT WITH YOU GUYS, literally the smallest thing you could do!!!! She never took our order because an older gentleman walked up and then took our order.

Bottom line, the staff work ethics and behavior are the worst in town. I have been into bad fast food restaurants with very shady employees that know how to great a Guest in 10 seconds from walking in the door and ensuring that they will be right with you; unlike, no greeting and 5 minutes has passed.

Last thing to add, the food tastes just like the surroundings vibes and attitudes. I remember when the old owner was still alive. He’d visit every table and ensure that the food was up to his par. Ow you have to beg just to get someone to take your order while you feel like you are inconveniencing them at the...

You really can't get better pizza for a better price than Saggios. It's gourmet pizza at a Pizza Hut price and its even cheaper if you join their rewards program as they are very generous with the promotions and discounts. It really is gourmet too, I've worked at a few pizza chains and the major franchises all pretty much get the exact same ingredients however Saggios has noticeably higher quality ingredients that seem to be mostly from scratch I assume because I haven't tasted anything like it anywhere else. Their Milano pizza is easily the best tasting, most quality pizza I've ever had for that price, highly recommended. Also their marinara sauce is probably the 2nd best I've ever had. Honestly everything there tastes fantastic and it's all priced extremely fair for the quality. The Legion Pasta is another excellent entree there that is about as good as it gets for that price range. Long time Saggios customers probably know that there has been a change in management since the pandemic, there was a bit of a transitional period where the quality and service suffered a bit but i can say for sure now that they have definitely returned to their former glory. All the recipes taste exactly the same and the new crew has everything running smoothly. I've noticed that for the most part the only negative reviews for Saggios are regarding wait times or service/order mistakes...well, that's to be expected because the place truly does have some of the best food for the best prices and therefore they get pretty busy at times and mistakes are bound to happen when you're dealing with that many orders. Personally I think they do a great job keeping everything running well and the few times there's been small mistakes they've been totally cool about correcting them. Can't recommend Saggios enough for Italian food,...

Usually the food is really good here, however today we ordered a garden salad and they gave us the pasta salad not to mention we went to try to take it back and they said we opened it and we did not open it. Then we decided to maybe keep the pasta salad and then we noticed that there was no broccoli in the salad and that's specifically one of the main ingredients for the salad. I asked for artichokes on my pizza and they told me that they couldn't do it anymore since I had already placed my order and I told them that if they were going to not prepare my slice of pizza the way I wanted it that I would just cancel my whole order. So then they ended up adding the artichokes and charging me for them which I do not mind at all. However they ended up just throwing the artichokes on top of my pizza which they were slightly cold they weren't even hooked with the pizza. I ordered the same thing every time and I was very disappointed. There was barely any pesto sauce in the salad and also come on we specifically came to this location because they offered a point program and my mom uses that program and they did not allow her to use it. She's already come a few times in the past few weeks and they keep telling her to come back another day. So my point is what is the purpose of them having a point system that they don't honor? Also the people that work there I ended up asking for a side of broccoli since there wasn't any in my pasta salad and they gave me a half around mccinful with maybe like four pieces of broccoli and the guy that handed it to me said he sorry that they'll get mad at him if he gives me...

We came to Saggios for the first time today. Its our last night in Albuquerque. I understand its a Friday night, but I have never seen such flustered staff, or waited over an hour for a calzone to come out that looked half as cooked as every other one that came out. We only got an order of manicotti and a calzone. The manicotti was good, but we kept switching out to see if the calzone was done yet. At 35 mins I asked someone to check on it and was told it was in the oven. 20 mins later my husband was then told it was just put in the oven. They said there were oven problems. Over an hour after we ordered ours came out. This was after I had seen plenty of people who came in after us including large groups get their food, including pizza and calzone that looked a lot more browned than ours. My husband was given a calzone that didnt look fully cooked. I saw several other meatball calzones come out. They all had visible meatballs — not ours. We asked for a refund, and we left it there.one staff member told us there was no oven issue, they just get busy. She seemed annoyed by us. Several others who interacted with us did not even seem phased, say sorry, anything. It seemed like we were an inconvenience. I dont come to a counter serve place and expect to wait am hour for 2 items. We went to Frontier next door and had a whole meal out in 15 mins and they were way more friendly and also more busy but they are super organized too. We have been to Frontier several times this week and thought we’d try another local business. But Saggios seemed like they could not have cared less about us.

Wished I had know about Saggios while I was attending UNM. It’s a popular spot with the community and college folk alike and isn’t hard to figure out why. The restaurants features a counter style service of ordering. The menu is located above the ordering counter and offers a pretty decent array of Italian-American classics. From Sandwiches, calzones, salads, pizza, and various forms of pasta. Saggios certainly presents its patrons with a staggering choice to be made when trying to figure out what to order. Although Saggios has a number of dishes and great lunch deals. I usually get the Fettuccine Bolognese. This is what I enjoyed during my most recent visit a few days ago. As usual, the plate was enormous. I’ve always had to resort in taking the second half home for leftovers (definitely not a problem) The pasta itself was up to the usual standard. Well cooked and marinated perfectly in white wine tomato sauce. The service is friendly and overall not half bad. The wait time usually isn’t too excessive either. My dish is usually out in about 8-10 minutes. The unique atmosphere and mural painting that sits on the north side dining room wall will certainly keep your mind entranced for a few good minutes (if visiting for the first time). I like Italian good, I like decent portions, and I like awesome atmosphere. Saggios has all three. Making it one of my favorite spots in the UNM area. Certainly a spot that was better finding late than never.

I'm changing my rating because of the horrible manager who discriminated against me for wearing a Pride shirt. I never had a problem picking up until this day. I went to pick up a DoorDash order on a Tuesday night and waited 20 minutes to even be acknowledged, then he walked off for 10 minutes, came back and asked me the names again. Said he just put the order in and it would be 20 minutes. I messaged the customers and waited. Neither were large orders. I was picking up 2 pizzas and one pasta. When I went back, he asked for the names again. He looked at the pickup orders, motioned me to step aside while he helped others, walked off, then came back, ASKED ME THE NAMES AGAIN, and said, happily, it would be 20 minutes. When I told him that he told me 20 minutes 40 minutes ago and that customers are waiting, he blew me off and said they're busy and to cancel the orders. When I asked who I could make a complaint to, he laughed and said "me." Jokingly asked me for my name. He did help other Dashers while putting me off. I was so mad and didn't understand why he enjoyed being rude until after I'd contacted DoorDash to cancel the orders. When driving down the street I realized what shirt I was wearing.
