Purchased a used washer for $200 in early August, 2015. Washer worked fine for a few months. In November, knob started to come loose. One day, when I pulled the knob to operate the washer, it popped off. I tried placing the knob back on and the timer unit broke free from the housing inside the washer.
I decided to call Almonte because my washer was still under a warranty. On the phone, the owner spoke to me as if he didn't believe me. He was short with me and kept asking if I had the receipt, which I did. When I arrived at Almonte, with the washer, he told me that the warranty wouldn't cover any damage that I had caused to the machine (keep in mind, this before he has even seen the machine). I assured him that it had not been mistreated and stopped functioning during normal use. He came out to my car to look at the machine. When he saw the loose timer, he insisted that he had "never" seen such a problem. He had me and my friend pull the washer out and lift it up onto his dock, rather than going inside to get a dolly to pull it up the ramp.
Once the washer was inside, he opened up the unit to expose the timer. He showed us a broken plastic tab that held the timer in place. He insisted that this tab could not have broken unless we used a large amount of force. I assured him that this was not the case. After we waited for fifteen minutes while he talked to his employees in the corner, he insisted he would have to call the timer company to check and get back to us Monday (it was Saturday). We left our information and awaited his call.
Monday afternoon, he called. He told us that we had broken the knob and it was not covered by the timer company's warranty. Not only would he not fix the machine, but we needed to pick it up immediately because he would not hold it for us. I pointed out that I had not agreed to such a warranty. I had agreed to the warranty specified in our contract, which said absolutely nothing about these rules he was now trying to put in place. He argued with us, repeating his garbage story over and over. In the end, I was able to get him to hold the machine until the following Saturday.
When we came to pick it up, his story about what was broken had changed. Now he was talking about the knob, instead of the broken tab on the timer. He brought the washer outside on a dolly and left it on his dock. He insisted he was "sorry" but wasn't even willing to roll it down the ramp to our car for us. He immediately went back inside and left us outside to carry the washer down and place it in our car.
I have never experienced such poor customer service. Almonte Appliances sells poorly repaired garbage appliances and when it comes down to it, they will not honor the warranty that they guaranteed in their contract. I would absolutely not recommend anyone waste their time...
Read moreI purchased a used Frigidaire Dec 2022 and just 3 days after my warranty ran out it started not working. I called in a panic (I had over $1,000 worth of food in there) and was told someone would be at my house around 3pm. I called again at 4 and the owner said "sorry I forgot I'll come now". Their only about 20 minutes away, but it took him until after 6 to arrive. I had already given him serial number and pics of thermostat, etc so he could bring proper tools. He said it was coolant so when he was done and $85.00 later he told me that should do it. Well I went to bed around midnight and it still wasn't working and by this time all the food had dethawed and become ruined. I called him the next morning and told him it still wasn't working which he then said he had 1in the showroom freezer but he said it was larger. The one I bought was the largest we could fit. Anyway I went in to look at what he had and explained to his wife why I was there. The owner then came out with a grin and said so how are you. I stated "Well, I'm not a very happy right now" after I said that he became loud, rude and disrespectdul. He actually had the nerve to say I was being irratic, rude and disrespectful to him. I chuckled and he kept going on about my rudeness. He told me he couldn't do business with me anymore and that originally he was going to give me the money back for the freezer because he felt bad since the warranty had just expired. Then said but now because of my attitude he wasn't doing anything for me. I laughed in his face, called him a liar and told him I would make sure I told everybody I could about what type of person he was and what type of establishment he ran.
With all this said, I just wish I would have done research on this place instead of just a word of mouth referral. I definitely would never return there and if you want to save time, Sanity and your money for a long term investment spend the extra money...
Read moreTerrible experience with these people. If I could give 0 stars I would. I had bought an oven from them and when I brought it home it started beeping an f10 code after the oven was on for some time. I called and explained the issue to them and they said to bring it to fix it. I brought it there and they kept telling me that they were testing the issue so they can fix it. But I already explained the f10 code and that it means the heat sensor for the oven is bad. So they didn't have to test anything they just had to fix it. After 6 hours of the oven being there they call me saying it's done. I ask them what was it they did and they just said it was fixed and to come pick it up. When I get there at 4:15 I wanted to test it to make sure it's working fine and they didn't want to let me. They told me on the phone earlier that day they closed at 6. Then when I got there they said they closed at 5. The owner and his wife were in a rush to leave early so they tried saying they didn't have time test it. There was plenty of time to test it. I explained to them I understand but the oven was there almost all day and I paid for it so I would like to make sure it works fine so I don't have to come back. The owner says "I'm not talking about money" lol. As I was talking to them they were ignoring me and loading the oven. When I got home and tested it, it was still beeping the f10 code. I wasn't a customer there to cause problems or use them so I thought it was unprofessional as hell to literally argue with me and ignore the fact that I wanted to make sure it was fixed. Not only that but the husband/owner hung up on my boyfriend earlier that day because he was he didn't want to listen to him explaining the issue. Now I have to take it back a third and final time. Wish...
