Encounter — Local services in Allentown

I had been to this store long ago when it was down the street near the old Blockbuster (so you can image how long ago that was) and I didn't have a great experience so I went in a little apprehensive. They have a very large selection of comics and their discount on pull lists is the best I've seen from all the stores in the area. The staff was very helpful towards me. They were willing to help me find what I was looking for when they couldn't they offered to order it but I regular a different store so I declined. They have a very large selection of 50¢ and $1.50 comics which is nice. Found entire runs of series I was looking for at an inexpensive price. My only complaints is the parking. Epic store, go here! They have a great set-up using their space well, with lots of vertical racks for key comic issues, a funko pop wall, and a large selection of comic-related busts, figurines and other collectibles. The crown jewel for me was the 6-odd shortboxes of their bargain area ($1.00 comics), let’s call it a medium-sized but respectable collection of assorted goodies. I was looking for 80s-94 Marvel and found a dozen items, so that was great. There section of trade paperbacks is well-curated and somewhat well-stocked. The Encounter has some of the most competitive pricing I've ever seen. They carry video games from Atari to Xbox360, They have a large, but rather random collection of DVD's. And comics priced from as low as 8 for a dollar (great for kids starting out or just random reading material) to collector quality pieces. They have tons of singles for card games, as well as action figures and board games. I've seen a few other people comment on the outside condition of the store. I believe having the store in that location allows them to continue to price their inventory as low as is really possible in retail. The staff are all easy going and knowledgeable.
