Altar'd State Avalon — Local services in Alpharetta

I write this not as a complaint but as announcement to others to not frequent nor spend their hard earned money at Altar'd State at The Avalon in Alpharetta, GA.

Growing up in the south as a woman of color I’m always braced and prepared for a moment of discrimination and discomfort. However; over time I admit I let my “guard” down and lived life. But on December 28, 2023 I can sadly announce that I experienced a feeling so horrible, I had to make it known so other women of color don’t experience such HORRIBLE customer service.

I went into Altar'd State to see what the after Christmas sales were like, and when I walked in the door, I was not greeted not a big deal, I see that the store is busy. However, I was glared at coldly as I walked in the store, the cold shoulder almost made me turn around at that moment.

Being experienced in retail, you have less than 2 minutes to greet a customer when they enter a store. I had an associate walk right by me and said nothing. I proceeded to the disheveled clearance room, I am once again in the presence of the same associate, who walked right past me without greeting me. She once again didn’t ask if I needed help with anything. I proceeded to other side of the store where ONCE again I felt like someone was looking at me. Now being experienced in retail, I also know what LP (loss prevention) is and how it works. The store is packed to capacity all kind of people shopping and trying on clothes, but somehow I am the only person being followed closely throughout the store.

Finally, I decided that I would leave and keep myself composed to keep from crying. The cold shoulder, stares and complete disbelief that in 2023 anyone would feel this way while shopping.

Once again, this isn’t a complaint this is a message for women of color to find another place to spend your money than the Altar'd State at Avalon Mall in Alpharetta, GA. They don’t respect all customers and treat all fairly. For that , they shouldn’t...

walked in on october 8th at around 8:10pm. if i could give this certain employee 0 stars i would. my boyfriend and i were talking about something completely irrelevant and the girl at the front stormed over and started yelling about how the employees have to say the same thing every single time just in case we were secret shoppers. she stated that everything they say is scripted because if not it could be counted against them if we were secret shoppers. she then proceeded to accuse us of talking bad about her. again, we were talking about something completely irrelevant. nothing about employees. in fact, we were talking about how i don’t need to be in the plus size section…. because i am not plus sized. not sure why she took offense to that. i don’t remember her name, but she was wearing a burnt orange hat and white top. absolutely no way to approach a paying customer, especially one that is so Faith based. if i were a secret shopper i’d be pissed. i’m a frequent shopper at altar’d state… this was very off brand. maybe she was having a bad night but no way to treat someone who was looking to spend money. will not...

This place is so cute I love the clothing selection. The service was excellent. The prices are a little high. But everything seems like it's a good quality. The reason that I gave such a low rating is first off they're pumping some kind of overwhelming choking christmasy sent It was hard to breathe my friend had a sneezing fit It's too much they just need to like turn it down a notch. Second they were playing Christmas music. It's not even Halloween I personally hate Christmas there's no reason to play Christmas music in October! That is literally enough to make me not go back until after Christmas. I know I'm weird but I also know that other people feel the same way as I do someone even complimented it to their friend while we were there. Retail places need to stop let Halloween happen!
