DO NOT MOVE HERE I never write reviews, but after the nightmare we've experienced living here, I feel compelled to warn others. This will be a long read, but it's necessary to cover every single issue we've had. For the price they charge, it's absolutely not worth the headache. I have never dealt with a worse property management company. Sure, the interior looks nice and new, but I'd rather live anywhere else than deal with these people.
We moved in February 2023, and initially, we loved the office staff. They were helpful, responsive, and genuinely seemed to care. They even went out of their way to assist us. However, that team is long gone. The entire staff has been replaced, and it's been a downhill spiral since. If you read any glowing reviews, they probably mention Chemo—well, he's not here anymore, and the new team is a complete disaster.
The real problems began around November 2023. We went out of town, leaving a family member to watch our two pets. On the last night, he got locked out while taking them outside. The courtesy officer and MANAGEMENT refused to help him get back inside, claiming it was a liability because they "could not identify him." His wallet, with ID, was inside, clearly showing the same last name as on our lease. We had to call the fire department to get him back in! They even said that if my elderly grandmother were locked out, they wouldn't help her either. And apparently, if I go out of town, I'm not allowed to have a pet sitter—I have to board my pets, which is NOT stated in the lease.
Package delivery is another nightmare. The delivery drivers often can't access the mailroom, and the office staff couldn't care less. It's always a hassle.
Then, our elevator went down. I submitted a work order, and a week went by with no updates. I called every day for another week, left voicemails, and received no response. Finally, someone answered and claimed they didn't know the elevator was down. It stayed broken for almost two months! I had to physically go to the office to get any information.
We also had an issue with paying rent. After switching banks, our online account was locked, and it never got fixed. We now have to get a money order every month, which is incredibly inconvenient. Despite multiple requests, they've done nothing to resolve this.
Supposedly, this is a smoke-free community, but I can't count the number of times I've found cigarette butts on my patio. Reporting it does nothing.
We decided not to renew our lease due to these issues and countless others. When we moved some furniture near the dumpster, we were told we'd be charged $200 a day if we didn't remove it ourselves. The dumpster is tiny, and they used to have a larger one, but they got rid of it to save money. The move-in/move-out process is also terrible—you can't even drive a truck up to your floor level. I've never lived anywhere that makes it this difficult to dispose of furniture.
The parking deck is another disaster. It's small and hard to navigate, and large trucks and SUVs often take up compact spaces without being told to move. It's dangerous because you can't see around corners.
The management provides no help, doesn't answer calls, and clearly only cares about money. This is the worst leasing experience I've ever had. The one saving grace is Alvin, the maintenance manager, who is nice and helpful. They even tried to bribe us with a $200 credit to renew our lease, usable only in their overpriced "pantry" where a bag of flour costs $15! I could Uber to a grocery store for cheaper.
Save yourself the money and hassle—don't move here. The new staff is horrible, unhelpful, and you'll get nothing but...
Read moreWhen we first moved into the apartment complex, it was an amazing experience. We had free waters in the gym, snacks in the coffee room, and monthly events with catered food and unlimited wine and beer. However, things changed when Greystar took over. They started offering two months free, which seemed appealing at first.
This is supposed to be a smoke-free community, but be aware that just five feet away within the same community is a business that allows all workers to smoke cigarettes. Even though they are technically five feet away from the building, when six women are smoking at noon on their break, the smoke obviously rises and affects all four floors and the pool area. Despite this, the establishment still promotes a smoke-free environment, which could be grounds for a lawsuit. When offering tours and signing leases, they need to make it clear that you will still smell cigarette smoke; it’s not a truly smoke-free zone. They allow people on the first floor with apartments facing to the big office building to have grills. The grills produce smoke and fumes that are not regulated by the apartment to flow and disperse into other rooms above and beside
Additionally, with the two months free offer, they have now attracted younger couples who smoke weed, and management does nothing about it. I recently attended the most recent wine event, and it was very disappointing. We have a community of hundreds of residents, and they offered a cheeseboard that couldn't have cost more than $20 and two cheap bottles of wine. Before Greystar took over, we had private chefs cooking full meals and unlimited liquor. I would highly suggest the Eden or renting out a town home for the price we pay
There’s no excuse for this decline in quality, especially when we’re paying $3k a month for a basic...
Read moreHorrible communication. It is horrendous. They do NOT respond to emails unless you send it to a specific person (with their own unique email). They do NOT respond to portal messages. They do NOT call you back if you leave a voicemail.
What’s even better? If you call during the day, they will often say something like “let me look into this and call you back in 30 minutes”. They never actually call back!! This has happened multiple times. I even tried reserving a parking spot but they failed to call me back. This place is too expensive to have a complete lack of communication.
To top it all off, they consistently prove that they don’t care. They use Package Concierge for deliveries. They don’t notify you of deliveries 90% of the time. What did the leasing staff do? They tell you that if packages are left for 5 days, they send them back. Not every company notifies you when their packages are delivered at your address. This apartment complex does not care about you.
Every single time I see another resident in the package room, we have the same exact frustrations while we sort through abandoned packages in an unorganized room. It takes 5+ min to dig for your own package.
Do better, “Lights at Northwinds”. I will not recommend this place to anyone and I’m not...
