Traveling through the area and stopped to check out the Farmers Market. We loved several booths, bought some homemade jellies/jams/mustard and chatted with folks. There were eggs, some greens, jewelry, honey, salsa, kimchi, and other assorted items. We also bought a rikstra - probably paid too much (it is negotiable).
Our best find was the Venezulan food booth. The gentleman makes amazing empanadas and other breakfast/lunch items. We had a struggle communicating as my Spanish is pitiful, but he was kind, tried hard to explain (I have an allergy to green olives) and most important of all, makes incredible food. The Carnitas a la Criolle was fabulous. The mushroom empanada may be the best mushroom item I have ever eaten (and I love mushrooms).
Go, experience and smile! I hope to try visiting again before we leave...
