Are you ready for some football? I am, and Frank White and The Big Screen Store on West Street in Annapolis made my preparation for the 2017 season a pleasant and efficient experience. One week ago, I called The Big Screen Store and asked for advice on replacing my 15-year old Mitsubishi 72" rear-projection TV that I bought from the Store when it was in its previous location near the Big Box store. After a phone conversation with Frank, I had a good idea that my needs--bigger, brighter, and highest possible resolution--could be met with the new 4K LED technology, so I visited the Annapolis store. Frank had already found the record of my prior purchase(s) and showed me my new options. In fact, he was my original salesman, and his patience, experience, and knowledge were immediately assuring. He was able to give me a concise history of the evolution of big-screen TV manufacturers, and Samsung has clearly emerged as the winner in the technology and performance race. I continue to be amazed that while inflation affects most consumer retail sectors, the pricing of computers and audio and video electronics continues to go in reverse. I was astounded to find that the Samsung equivalent-range TV models were priced at less than half of what I paid for the 72" Mitsubishi in 2002. The pictures are brighter even in full room lighting. The angles of view are dramatically wider. And the today's resolution is incomparably better. An accessory sound system is probably non-essential since the TV's on-board speakers sounded great, but I was looking to replace an entertainment center that was state-of-the-art when I took the plunge 15 years ago. So I checked out the Bose Touch 300 system and a new piece of fine furniture to complement the new TV and Bose sound bar. I returned the next day with a decision made and credit card in hand and walked out with an appointment made for free delivery of a Samsung mega-TV, sound system, and new furniture in only a couple of days--chosen to fit my schedule. (I believe that a next-day delivery is possible on most week days.) As promised, the delivery team of John and Bo arrived on time after calling ahead to announce their projected Saturday schedule. They were pleasant, courteous, and efficient, removing the old mammoth TV and setting the new equipment in place with great care given to my doors, floors, and walls. I chose to do the installation/set-up myself, and my couple of calls and questions were answered promptly and thoroughly be Frank. Everything works, and it all looks and sounds even better than in the store. The only downside to this whole endeavor is that I am a big sports fan, and nowadays major college football is broadcast all day Saturday and the NFL is on Sunday, Monday, and Thursday, so I am not likely to do any serious work or home renovation projects for the next 3-4 months. Now, if my Atlanta Falcons can learn from last February's mistakes, I might get to enjoy them in Super Bowl 52 in glorious, living color in 4K resolution on my new Samsung big screen TV. I gave the Annapolis Big Screen Store review a 5-star rating because of the overall experience. After comparing prices with a local warehouse store, a big box store, and the world's largest on-line retailer, I found The Big Screen Store's prices comparable and competitive. Plus, The Big Screen Store offers the rare, valuable addition of a mature, personable, patient, knowledgeable, and responsive staff before and after the transaction. Ask yourself if any of those other retailers actually tell you: "If you have a question or problem, don't call the manufacturer. Call us at the Store. If we can't solve the problem for you locally, we will deal with the manufacturer for you." The Big Screen Store provides that promise. Read moreWe recently remodeled our family room and decided to get a big screen tv and surround sound system as the icing on the cake! We looked around and were a bit overwhelmed by the options and products out there. We were close to making a decision when I drove by the Big Screen Store in Annapolis and stopped in. Best decision I've made in a long time. Frank White was working and asked me what we wanted in a big screen tv and sound system. Based on my input, Frank showed me the different options they have, from least expensive to most expensive. At no time did Frank engage in hard sale tactics and he actually provided some good reasons why getting a mid-priced unit instead of the higher priced units made sense for us. He also made sure the Samsung tv I decided to get would fit in the space I wanted to put it in. Always a good idea! He also took a lot of time to show me a Bose surround sound audio system, which sounded amazing and simplified my search for a component sound system I was thinking about getting. Overall, a delightful sales experience. He listened to what I wanted and showed me options well suited to my needs and price point. No hard sell tactics. Very knowledgeable and good communication skills. We went with The Big Screen Store because of their products and because of Frank! I would highly recommend their Annapolis store and...
Read moreSalespeople were extremely knowledgeable. Big Screen Store also had a great warranty which helped my decision to purchase here. They also have many delivery and installation options if needed!
EDIT - Sep/2022 - So, it turns out that the "great warranty" is in fact, not so great. It's not just "not great"; it's a complete shame. Big Screen Store is amazing BUT I have to let consumers know that the third party warranty provider they are using is not reputable. After two years, I have a section of my couch that needs to be repaired. Not only did "My ProtectAll" not repair the couch, they refused to even register my warranty. That's right, after a phone call, multiple attempts on their website, and three emails over a month-long period, they won't even register my warranty that would even allow me to submit a warranty claim (that they would likely refuse). I have lodged a formal complaint with the BBB on "My ProtectAll". Not convinced? Just google them and read the BBB reviews!
Bottomline, I love my tv and my couch and the Big Screen Store but they need to not do business with non-reputable companies. I have an obligation to warn my...
