I really wish I could give this place a good review because of how friendly and reasonably priced they were. Also, they let me use a loaner computer which was incredibly helpful as I'm in school. But ultimately, I don't feel like they did a good job of fixing my computer, which is kind of the point.
I brought it in because the screen wouldn't turn on. I started feeling a little apprehensive about their quality when they had to call me a day or two after I dropped it off to remind them of what was wrong with it and what my log-in information was, even though I, of course, had told them both of those things when I dropped it off. It seemed kind of spacey and disorganized. They did, however, give me options for the price of replacing the screen, one brand new and one a little bit used, which I thought was pretty neat. It's very thoughtful to accommodate different budgets.
When they were done fixing it, I picked it up and brought it home, but when I turned it on for the first time....the screen still wasn't working. I tried many times to turn it on, and nothing. So I had to bring it all the way back only for them to tell me they couldn't replicate the problem and it was working fine. So I picked it up again, and found that the screen was working this time, except....the screen is actually falling out of the computer. So yes, the screen does work now, but every time I open up the computer I have to push it back into place. It feels very precarious. It also just confuses me given how long they had it, because as soon as I opened up the computer, the screen was falling out. Shouldn't they have noticed? On top of that, I asked them to replace the black pads underneath the computer, which they did, but within two days, one had already fallen off, and within a week, two had fallen off. I'm not treating the computer poorly. I'm not jostling it or putting it in a backpack or anything. It just stays in one place on my desk. I thought of calling them as soon as I got home and noticed the screen was falling out, but at this point, I don't feel trusting that they'll fix the problem and I don't want to have to bring it back in for a third time.
Maybe my experience was a fluke because they seem well-reviewed, but the slight disorganization, the fact that I had to bring it in twice, the fact that they fixed one problem only to create another, and that the black pads they replaced have already fallen off all...
Read moreWith most reviews geared more towards the repair & restoration of Personal Computers. I feel it prudent to speak of the exceptional quality of Christopher's custom PC builder service.
I was going over options to get a Gaming PC of my own and mulled over several Prebuilt options that didn't quite meet normal standards and pricing. Prebuilds from websites like Dell/Alienware and IBuypower come immediately to mind for their poor build quality, bankrupt customer service and a pricing that can only be matched by a motored vehicle. I then began to look for more local alternatives and found Christopher's Computers was close by.
When I began asking questions for a custom PC, Chris and the lady who worked the front desk (who I forget the name of, sorry about that) was very kind and answered any and all of my questions through Email and Phone. He offered a very fair deal to me despite the chip shortage and the video card supply crisis. Only took about a week to get all the parts and build it.
The PC was exceptional, easily handling any game at 1440p resolution and well above 60 fps. The build quality is subline with no wear and tear on the casing or inside. For reference I ran several games, some newer some older to truly measure this pc for use with gaming. For those not in the know and want to hear a concrete answer without going into technical details: This is a fantastic shop ran by truly competent individuals, I can scarce find a reason to go anywhere else if you're near the greater Asheville Area.

Read moreMy desktop wouldn't start. I have years of data and photos, which I was very concerned about. I wouldn't take my computer just anywhere for repairs. Christopher's Computers came highly recommended by a friend, who has not only used Christopher's Computers herself, but has recommended them to others, who have had excellent results, as well.
My experience started with Onatel, who is the first point of contact. I called Christopher's spoke with her about my concerns, she was friendly, knowledgeable and told me my options. I took my computer in the following day. Onatel gave me the time frame, and answered all my questions. I was nervous about losing my files. My operating system had to be reinstalled. Despite that, Christopher's was able to retrieve my files and photo's! The computer was repaired and ready to pickup on the date promised. The communication along the way was great. Christopher needed information and contacted me. I was impressed with his expertise, and his genuine concern for my concerns. I highly recommend...
