Alice Alterations — Local services in Athens-Clarke County Unified Government

I went to Alice Alterations with a dress that needed to be hemmed several inches at the bottom. They got it back to me in exactly one week! I thought I would need to pay a rush fee to get it back in time but since they were so fast, it wasn't necessary. I'm not sure if one of the ladies I spoke to was actually Alice but they were all very sweet. I've only ever gotten one dress hemmed a couple years ago at another place here in town. The disorganization and the reputation of the other guy to get super backed up wasn't worth the slightly cheaper price of the alteration at his place. That led me to Alice's, where they were very professional, kind, and super quick. DO NOT GO HERE! I was referred here by a friend and trusted that they would do a good job with my brand new custom dress. I needed it in time for an event and they were only able to accommodate me if I paid a $20 rush fee in addition to the already high price they were charging. With the rush fee they promised a two week turn around, which to me really isn't rushed. My dress was not done correctly and they didn't do anything to try to fix it or offer to refund my money. They were very rude and extremely unprofessional. I ended up taking my dress down the street to Heery's. It's a beautiful clothing store that has a tailor on the lower level. They are very friendly here so I hate to leave a poor review, but my recent experience was not good. Got my wedding suit fitted and everything was still too large when I got it back. They were busy the day I went in to get fitted and I felt rushed and unheard. I had to point out each thing I wanted fixed, though I’m not an expert in exactly how to tailor a suit. The pants were taken in and the sleeves shortened and yet everything is still too big/long. I mentioned the shoulders/chest area fitting too loosely and my request felt brushed off, I was basically told it would sit well once the dress shirt was fitted.
