As a past customer who recommended this spot to her friends I am very disappointed. I suggested to my 6 girlfriends that we try Tlaloc for dinner because I enjoyed it. To start off, we ordered 2 marg pitchers and were only brought 1. We reminded waitresses politely twice that our second pitcher was missing. After over 30 minutes go by, I remind our waitress again and she finally brings one over without an apology. She does not give us the glasses with the rims that is traditional as well. Next, I order the chicken fajitas and they are serviced to me without the flour tortillas I asked for. I reminded a waitress politely and was still never brought any. I had to eat my meal with a fork which is NOT how I wanted to eat my fajitas and 20 minutes later I was brought tortillas when it was too late. I then nicely asked our waitress for a discount on our marg pitcher since we were rushed to finish it and could no longer enjoy it as well as we’re not served the cups. She immediately responds no. I ask if there’s anyone else I can talk to because in my experience working in the food industry, a discount is the appropriate etiquette. She says she will give us 50% off which we accept and are thankful for. Once we get our checks, they were not 50% off but because we had spent 2 hours there waiting (for only 2 marg pitchers and 2 meals), we just decided to pay them. We got the checks all ready and separated for the waitress to easily take and it took her ten minutes to grab them. At this point, we were in a rush to leave and were excited to finally be paying. It look over 20 minutes to get our cards back and the waitresses were all snarking at us. Keep in mind we had always been polite and we’re not causing a scene, we were just in a rush and did not want to wait 30 minutes in total to pay our checks. The icing on the cake was our waitress rudely dropping our checks off and giving us ANOTHER CUSTOMER’s card! That is highly inappropriate and illegal. Overall, I am very very disappointed and this was the worst customer service I have dealt with in my entire life. I had 6 girlfriends yelling at me for ruining their night with this awful dinner experience who do not want to return. As a past customer, I would appreciate if a manager could contact me to discuss this experience as I would’ve loved to speak to one but frankly had no time after spending 2 and a half hours...
Read moreAs far as I'm concerned, the greatest Mexican restaurant on the face of the earth. One night, a few years ago, I went to Tlaloc after having my birthday at Terapin, and accidentally illegally parked in what I thought was Tlaloc's parking lot, but was actually the parking lot of the nefarious next-door neighbor liquor store. The liquor store people called to have my car towed. When the tow truck showed up, the waitresses told us that the tow truck guy was towing someone's car. "I wonder what dumbass is getting their car towed," I said as I looked out across the parking lot and saw the tow truck park in front of my car. I rushed out to find that the guy had already put a hook around my bumper, which I guess consummates the towing procedure or something, because he wanted $70 in cash to take it off. I tried to talk the guy down, as I only had like $20 on me, but he wasn't having any of it, so I ran back inside to see if Tlaloc could run my debit card for $50 in cash so I could give the tow truck guy the full amount, and I explained what was happening to the guy running the register, who as it turned out is the owner, who always sits like a wise guru behind the register and pours drinks, and he said "how much do you need?" And I said 50 bucks, and he reached into the register and slammed down the $50 and he said, "Go." And I ran out and gave the tow truck guy the full amount, and he wrote me a receipt, and then he tried to high horse me with his "just doing my job" thing, but come on guy, I may be a little drunk cause it's my birthday, but you can't tell me it's unsurprising that people get upset when they get their cars towed, and besides that, you literally chose of your own volition to work for a towing company, so I wasn't having any of it. Anyways, I went back inside to thank the owner, and tried to pay him back, but he wouldn't accept it. Then I told him it was my birthday and he gave me and all my friends a round of shots on the house. And that is why to Tlaloc will always have my business, and why this is the best Mexican restaurant on the face...
Read moreThis was the MOST UNPLEASANT experience I have ever had eating in a restaurant. I have never had the cops called on me, nonetheless eating in a restaurant expecting to have a nice dinner. The service was awful, the food took forever to come out and wasn't nearly what I expected, the waitress was not attentive, and finally after an hour wait I got a plate of food with hair inside of it. Seeing how this can occur occaisonally, I simply asked for a new plate and even offered to pay. I was denied food because they were "too busy" to make a new one. Now, on top of the fact that I was denied a CLEAN plate of food, I was expected to pay for it. Confused about the whole situation, I waited patiently for my server to return and did not make a scene because that is unlike me. When the server returned, she made it clear I did not have to pay if I didn't want to so obviously I didn't pay. Before I knew it, the store owner comes to my table very aggressively yelling at my friends and I and telling us the cops were coming. I tried to communicate with the store owner that this had been a big misunderstanding and he denied the need to talk to us and told us we had to leave.
Not only were there sanitary concerns in play, but their approach on handling the situation was very unprofessional and dissatisfying for a paying customer.
I will never return to this restaurant as long as the same management is in place. Normally, customers are the ones to make a scene when they are disappointed with the food/service. Here, I witnessed the store OWNER lashing out on me and being completely unreasonable.
Hopefully, this situation is not repeated in the future. But if you are expecting a nice dinner and a good time, I doubt you will...
