Harlem Zen — Local services in Atlanta

Update 7-7-22 So I left town for a while and had to stop my treatments. After several months returning to Atlanta I reached out to Angela to set an appointment and to my disappointment she has relocated out of town. Angela recommended I try one of her different techs. Reluctantly I gave Tracy a try and to my surprise I was pleasantly pleased with her knowledge as well as her technique with my skin. At this point I honestly wouldn't go anywhere else other than Harlem Zen. I still have to travel for work but this time like I was doing in the past, I'm going to fly back for my laser appointments. I highly recommend this black business. Oh and let me add this, they have the latest technology that has the yag incorporated. My research tells me that black skin needs the yag to have successful results. Give them a try and tell them Mecca recommended Harlem Zen.

I don't know where to start with this black owned business. Do I start by saying, how nice and clean the facility is? Do I start at how well they are covid prepared? Do I start at how knowledgeable Angela is on laser hair removal? That's it, the laser hair removal is where I will start. I've been using another company for laser hair removal religiously for about a year. The results were unsatisfactory to say the least. So I did some research and found that the yag laser machine works better for dark skin. I was lucky enough to find Harlem Zen. They actually had the machine I was looking for. I made an immediate appointment and my journey began. As I said previously Angela is highly knowledgeable on laser hair removal. She doesn't just inform you surface level she goes deeper than that. So much so that I had to go research what she said to confirm. To put it simple I was impressed. If you need laser hair removal this is your place. Don't worry about pricing, it's very affordable. I haven't used any of their other services so I will say this. If the other services are performed with the care and knowledge as laser, you can't go wrong. I highly recommend Harlem Zen. I thought I could do a complete second review. At any rate I went in to Harlem Zen for another laser hair removal and it went well as usual. I had some concerns about my under eye bags and I spoke to Angela about it. She explained to me in detail the benefits from using the laser for dark circles and bags. She even went a step further to break down what the laser was doing to the bags in terms I completely understood. This lady's knowledge of the business is beyond me. What she spoke on in the session, ofcourse I went home and researched it. Low and behold, her information was dead on. I'm so impressed with Harlem Zen. Give them a try, I really think you would be equally impressed. One final thing, the owner explained to me how I could get a particular session that would actually save me money and still get all the things I needed done. My first visit here was fine. I was trying to go back for my second visit and I was scheduled for a Friday at 5:15, but the day before my appointment I was asked to come in earlier because my technician might not be able to come in Friday. It was inconvenient for me, but I had to reschedule for the next week; a Tuesday at 5:15. The day of, at 1:00 pm, I got another text asking if I can come in earlier as my technician was still unable to come in. The reason I even book appointments this late is because I have to work. So it is an extreme inconvenience to have to keep moving my schedule around, with barely even a sorry, because now, to even make the appointment I have to leave work early and loose money. I expressed my dissatisfaction to the person who was rescheduling me, and asked what could be done to compensate for my time. She stated that, that's not really something she could do anything about since this is just a schedule issue and the reason they are moving people around is because some technicians have COVID, but that she would talk to her manager. When I had the appointment, all they did was credit $5 to my account with them. How does that help? Because the money is just going right back to them and I'm not sure I feel comfortable booking with them again because I am not sure my appointment time will be upheld. And on top of that I still had to tip the technician of course because I don't want to punish her for the office's bad service. I myself work in a doctor's office and understand unexpected staff shortages due to COVID, but even we do our best not to put the patient out too much. If my tech had COVID Friday like they say, they either should have notified clients earlier or blocked the schedule and made appointments unavailable to book until they were adequately staffed to fulfill those appointments. RECENT UPDATE 07/16/2021 I spoke with the owner Angela who was very concerned about my lack of results. As I mentioned a few weeks ago..the customer service and professionalism is absolutely wonderful. She suggested the ZenSmooth (which is considered the YAG treatment). It removes the hair [temporarily] whilst waiting for a more permanent removal of hair from folicles over time. I was actually pleased and will consider this treatment for my next visit. Unfortunately this treatment/services was not a better fit. I'm pleased that I gave HZ another chance! Sometimes what may work for others may not work for someone else. I wanted to believe I'll get better results from this treatment than the previous Diode service(s). It didn't happen for me. The customer service is absolutely wonderful. The technician (Tracey) seems concerned & active about the progress of how the services are working for the client. Unfortunately after 3 sessions and $300 I am still not pleased with my results. I am aware that the hair in the particular area I am trying to remove is thick and coarse. Yet, I should see SOME hair removal after 12 weeks. When I touch an area days later the hair is still present, coarse & thick. I have had laser hair removal many years ago and was extremely pleased after the 1st session..and it only took 6 sessions total. At this rate I will need 10 and I refuse to give HZ $1000! Therefore I believe this process may not be a great fit for me. I would like to give the process one more try. Maybe there are other laser options (other than what is currently being utilized) that will assist. If I continue to get unpleasant & expensive results..I will be looking into electrolysis sooner than later. I do appreciate their professionalism & great customer service.
