A Wonderful Cafe Experience with Room for Improvement

This cafe truly captivated us with its engaging atmosphere, friendly staff, and interesting food menu. The range of options was impressive and the quality of the dishes was equally commendable. Our orders were executed with expertise and the balance of flavors showcased the culinary prowess of the kitchen team.

One of the standout experiences was trying their juice selections, which were nothing short of remarkable. Expertly crafted and bursting with natural flavors, they were a joy to sip on. Despite the food and service being top-notch, cleanliness in certain areas left much to be desired. While the cafe interior, including the kitchen area, was spotless, the state of the restroom was a letdown. We found it to be quite unclean, which was surprising considering the otherwise immaculate state of the establishment. This is a crucial area where the cafe needs immediate attention, as it is a fundamental aspect of any dining experience and can significantly influence a customer's perception of the business.

The staff was a definite highlight of our visit. From the moment we stepped in, we were greeted by warm smiles and friendly chatter. Their professionalism and genuine friendliness added a personal touch to our experience. Their dedication to maintaining a clean environment was evident in the dining and kitchen areas, and we hope that the same level of attention is extended to the restroom in the future.

I loved the space and got really excited about the idea of making this my new go-to spot for reading and working, but changed my mind after my first visit was disappointing. The food selection is good, but the prices were high given that the service, though mostly friendly, was poor and uncoordinated. I ordered a latte (in my own travel mug), a pound of coffee beans, and a ham & cheese croissant. The staff member who processed my payment just walked away once the sale went through. When the other staff member prepared my drink she not only made the wrong one (a mocha), but then remade the drink in a paper cup because the first staff member forgot to tell her about my mug (she dumped it into my travel mug once I pointed out that she still had it behind the counter, but the paper cup was still wasted in the process). She also didn't know about my croissant (probably because the staff who rang in my purchase didn't mention it or retrieve it for me when I was paying), and then, when I did get it, it was only warmed on the outside (the ham inside was ice cold). Two of the staff seemed very friendly and helpful, but overall this was a really disappointing visit.

I tried to email this feedback to the company rather than post it publicly, but their website still says "Coming...

EDIT: Since this was written a year ago, the restaurant no longer smells like urine. That's a win! But there remain many things they could improve. For example, the odors of overly hot eggs and grease permeates the restaurant in the morning. They should install a strong exhaust fan to keep the atmosphere inside clean. The music is atrocious - must Press & Grind play 1980's hair metal? Let the owners select a broadly inoffensive genre, such as lowfi instrumental, or world music, or a coffee house playlist on spotify.

Also, the parking: Press and Grind should remove the parking spots and put tables, planters, umbrellas etc. there. That would vastly improve the experience and the overall street-scape.

Finally, the seating area outside the cafe is dirty: The tables, chairs and ground are covered with litter and last year's leaves.

Management: Please, put a little effort into turning this grungy neighborhood cafe into a glowing gem. Currently, its a merely a mediocre convenience, not a desirable...
