The prices on most of their items are ridiculous. Considering that they are a "Christian" thrift store, one would think they would price things more reasonably. They also have the abhorrent habit of pricing sets (e.g. a cake plate and matching lid) separately, effectively doubling the price. They get everything as a donation, yet they only seem to be interested in maximizing profit. There have been several occasions when they complain I am getting "too good a deal" during check out. The majority of their so called "antiques" are cheap reproductions without provenance. One time, they were selling a pair of "antique bronze cranes from China". Bronze is made with nonferrous metal. The cranes were magnetic (my purse has a magnetic clasp), so they were just iron replicas. I mentioned this casually since they were asking 3-figures; I framed it in a non-confrontational, just being helpful manner. But they said I was in the wrong. They justify their pricing by comparing similar items on eBay, but they max out the price based on UNSOLD items. It's a bit of a joke. Most of the furniture is obscenely priced. We've bought new...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis used to be my favorite thrift store of all time. You could find really great treasures at good prices. When I first noticed a change, I just thought it was random or that their tape gun had jammed on $25. Seemed like everything I picked up whether it be a vase or book or piece of art - it was $25. Iāve gone back twice - several weeks apart - and itās still the same. Itās almost like you feel youāre on candid camera and someoneās going to run out and say ājust kiddingā LOL. It seems like they donāt want you to buy anything but clothes. There are lots of folks in there each time I go with carts piled high with clothes. Overflowing with clothes. Thatās great! Iāve never shopped for clothes and donāt have the need or desire to do so. Iāve always shopped for the household treasures, etc. Everything Iām drawn to is ānot for saleā or it is priced unreasonably. Like triple or quadruple of what you could buy it for brand new in a home goods store. I guess Iāll have to strike Mission Thrift off my list of fun things to do and treasure hunting. Iām...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI use to shop there regularly and even promoted this store. I would have gave it at least a 4, maybe even a 4.5 yp until yesterday. I had found an item I was wanting to purchase, but it was in box, taped up. I wanted to ensure that all the pieces was there before I purchased it...even was opening carefully so I could reseal it...one employer walks over and tells me "Don't be opening our boxes...my reply was I just double checking to make sure all the pieces were there(this item was a sewing machine) he said, "so, it has small parts"...now, it I was a kid, I could see his concern, but as an adult...he could have handled it so much different...even stood there and allowed me to check it...and if need be, could have retaped it....I really enjoyed shopping there although I would find many things that was really overpriced for it to be donated items...I even donated things there and pushed it her friends and family to do so....but...at 56, I really did not like the attitude of the young...
