El Jefe Mexican Cuisine — Restaurant in Auburn

We went once and it was great, we came back a second time to try taco Tuesday and had an awful experience. We both worked as servers in college so we understand when things happen and are very patient when we go out to eat, but it was one problem after another. We were seated & waited almost 20 minutes before we had to tell someone we hadn’t been greeted. 10 more minutes passed and someone finally came over. We ordered cheese dip to start and it was thick, and almost tasted sour. We ordered our tacos and the chicken was so wet with a watery grease that the tortillas were soaked. We finished what we could and asked for our check, we gave her our card & she was gone for 20 minutes. We saw her walking around, helping other tables, not sure what else she was doing. Made me extremely uncomfortable knowing someone had taken our debit card for 20 minutes. When we finally said something to the front , there was no sense of urgency. I don’t completely blame the server but the restaurant was definitely not running well. We have eaten here many times, but today will be my last. Food was served cold and in a small quantity. It has been good in the past, but not consistent. We both ordered street tacos.

Service was virtually nonexistent. We got our food and that was the last time the waitress came back. Another server asked if he could help when we were done eating. Finally got a refill on our drink after finishing meal and it was not the drink I ordered.

Got tired of waiting for bill and went to cashier to get it so we could leave. Mentioned it wasn’t a good experience (we were never asked) and that we were not interested in coming back. Nobody asked what the issue was, what could be done to resolve issue or anything. Instead, just took our money.

We’ve had mixed experiences here in our other visits. Consistency is not their strong suit. It’s not worth the risk to me. Way too many other Mexican restaurants in town that care more about their customer’s experience and try to build loyalty. I’ll just go to...

Highly disappointed in the service I received today. I don’t typically complain because I myself work in the service industry. I understand that we came about 10 minutes after 9 and it’s kinda late however if they were going to close they could have turned us away at the door and we could have just went somewhere else, the server rushed us to order because the kitchen was going to close, the drink I ordered from the bar tasted terrible. She only checked on us to give us the check, meanwhile they cut the music and lights off while we were still eating. Maybe 2 minutes after we received our food. Then when she brought us the check she had a open candy bar In her hand which quite frankly is so inappropriate and unsanitary. The food was great and I have no complaints regarding that.
