Original post is below, but editing to reflect the way our last experience ended. During our last visit, the waitress accidentally bumped a water on the table and spilled it all on my lap; we figured not a huge deal, accidents happen. What we found a bit odd was that no one (especially looking at YOU, management) offered to discount the meal, let alone the fact that you should probably comp a meal when you dump a drink in your customer’s lap.
THIS time, the waiter set the tray of ramen bowls on the table, but not solidly, and pulled off the ramen bowl that was keeping the tray on the table, letting the remaining bowl fall into the floor, shattering the bowl, and cutting my son’s foot. I took him to the bathroom to clean the cut with soap, and it was still bleeding so we packed some paper towel around it to try to stop the bleeding while the waiter got a bandaid. He was quite apologetic, even though he promptly dropped an F-bomb in front of both of our kids.
What was REALLY insulting after this though was that instead of immediately getting the bowl of ramen put back in so that we’d have that bowl, he comes back out and asks what we want to do, if we want him to put the order back in, and if so, he could discount it 20%. Read that last sentence again. It doesn’t say, “The manager came out and profusely apologized and ordered to comp the entire meal after their staff cut my son’s foot.” No - they offered an offensive 20% discount after all that. You can guess where we aren’t going back to, and now I think we’ll see about bringing any physician bills back to them, should that be needed. Unbelievable!
Pretty decent option if you are looking for an authentic Ramen place near Auburn/Opelika - I was looking for a “Shoyu Ramen”, which sadly wasn’t on the menu, but I liked the Tonkotsu Black Ramen pretty well. When we first started going there, they had beer options. Sadly, newer management has decided to stop carrying any beer - and they literally have a bar structure in the middle of the restaurant. That is a REALLY unfortunate decision, in my opinion…If it weren’t for this, I would have made my overall rating higher, but again - that change really bummed me out. Please fix...
Read moreThe staff were extremely friendly and helpful with any questions we had regarding the menu.
Most of the menu is ramen. There are a few things other than ramen, but this is specifically a ramen restaurant.
The building was extremely clean with a calm welcoming atmosphere.
The food was excellent and reminded me of ramen I had in Tokyo years back.
Don’t expect the flavor to punch you in the throat like instant ramen. Actual ramen works of subtle flavors that complement each other well without one being overpowering.
The prices are fair considering the amount you get and all the ingredients that goes into it.
One downside is that there isn’t really anything that would appeal to younger children on the menu making it a bit taxing to get them to eat.
My only other desire would be for the ramen to have just a little bit more meat in it. I felt like my meat was gone just a little too quickly.
To sum up, I enjoyed my visit and would recommend this place to anyone interested in trying out some good ramen. Clean establishment and fair prices with a kind and...
Read moreI stopped by Mizu Ramen recently with high hopes, but the experience left me underwhelmed. First off, if you’re craving sushi, don’t get your hopes up—the sushi chef was apparently out, so that whole section of the menu was a no-go. It’s a bummer when a place can’t deliver on a key offering, and it definitely set the tone for the visit. I decided to give their hibachi a shot instead, but honestly, it was a letdown. The flavors were flat, and the execution felt rushed—like it was an afterthought rather than a highlight. The meat was overcooked, and the veggies lacked that fresh, grilled snap you’d expect from decent hibachi. It wasn’t terrible, but it’s the kind of dish that makes you think, “I could’ve made this better at home.”Since it’s called Mizu Ramen, I’m assuming the ramen might be their strong suit—maybe I’ll give that a try next time if I’m feeling generous. But based on this visit, with no sushi and subpar hibachi, it’s hard to recommend. Service was fine, nothing standout, but the food just didn’t hit the mark. Two stars out of five—proceed...
