I recently purchased an absolutely beautiful stained glass window from Nathan at Aurora Mills Architectural Salvage.
I was not certain in the beginning if I was going to have him repair my original window or pivot and try to find a stained glass window to fit the space. I talked at length with Nathan about my choices and he was so willing to explain everything that would need to be done to either repair the old one or install a stained glass window I might find. My mother-in-law and I set out to start looking at all of the beautiful stained glass windows offered in this large space. I had my measuring tape on hand to find the perfect fit. We ended up finding the perfect stained glass to match the era of my home in almost the exact size of the existing window frame. My brother was able to find some old growth fir to match the frame around the stained glass window to build out the top and bottom to fit the space. I was set with the task of re-cementing the glass, staining the inside frame to match my interior frame molding from 1910, and primer painting the outside of the frame.
I called Nathan at the store before I did the re-cementing on the glass and he walked me through the process on this DIY install. I will forever be thankful to Nathan for making me feel brave enough to tackle this project!! I am absolutely in LOVE with this window and feel it was meant to be in this space!
Thank you Nathan!! I am telling everyone to visit...
Read moreI have wanted to visit this store for too long. On my way home from The Great Junk Hunt in Salem, no better time than now! Words can't even begin to describe this place! But I'll try! If you appreciate antique wood work and every type of rusty, crusty, dirty, beautiful anything and everything metal, glass, wood, this is your heaven on Earth! I was absolutely stunned by the artistry and the amount of stock they have. It's mind blowing. But! Be prepared to pay for what you love! $$$ There are plenty of reasonably priced pieces here. But you will pay up for alot! And there's nothing wrong with that! Everything is worth the price in my opinion! There were a number of large furniture pieces upwards of $4000 with SOLD tickets... Please come check this place out! I'm only leaving now because their closing. I could spend all day going through both building and the lumber yard... There's never enough time to see it all. I might come back...
Read moreNathan and the team at Aurora Mills have been absolutely fantastic!! We are the owner /stewards for a historic colonial in The Dalles, Oregon, and recently had to replace one of the original wavy glass windows. We called many places with no success before finding Aurora Mills, and Nathan.
The size of the window made finding the right replacement piece difficult, however Aurora came through!! When the right piece arrived in stock, Nathan guided us through the process of removing the broken glass, measuring and preparing for new. He hand cut the new (old) glass to size and carefully packaged it for transport. He then guided our handiman to reinstall the glass.
In short, Aurora Mills Architectural Salvage went above and beyond to provide materials and guidance for a very specialized and...
