This is a wonderful museum, located in the heart of Aurora, Oregon. I go here at least once a year for my handspinning guild's Antique Spinning Wheel Showcase (always the first weekend in March), and there are also a lot of other events that the museum hosts.
The museum is a virtual treasure trove of the history of the area, with plenty of historical photos and displays of many items from the years when the colony was active.
One of the rooms has been turned into a gift shop, with really great handcrafted items in keeping with the atmosphere of the museum. There are several buildings on the property, including Kraus House, and an open barn area.

This is an extraordinary preservation of our history. Clarke Will, State Historian, was my Grandfathers cousin. I am very proud of my past and have great hope for my...

Traces of it are still around the town so after seeing the museum and its backyard, make sure to do some walking tour from their suggested walk to see houses of the old colony still standing throughout this small town. And, if you visit the museum during a quiet time, they may let you ring the two huge bells, one in the back and a smaller one in the museum itself. They did to me. It's like a magic...
