I was Hangry and needed some food. I’d been seeing the Facebook posts for this place for the Broasted Chicken which as a kid I used to love. They also advertised Pan fried Razor Clams on Friday nights which is right up there with my top all time favorites. Having dug and eaten a lot of these Flattened Panko Coated delicacies you learn that if you over cook them they turn into chewy shoe rubber. It was Saturday night and I fully expected to eat chicken. But to my glee they had the Clams on the menu and my decision was made. Long story short. They were perfect. And they were in season Oregon Clams to boot. The flavor was awesome. The texture was perfect. Nice breading. I wasn’t a huge fan of the in house served tartar sauce, it seemed a little too bitter for me. It came with string green beans seasoned with onions and generous bits of bacon. The garlic bread was fresh. There was a huge amount of food for me and I have to try to figure out how to reheat the clams while keeping them soft. It was a very old pub so the ambiance is old pub style. It was clean and orderly. It is broken into two sides. One is the bar. The other for family dining. There are two Handicap parking spaces however actual access into the building is problematic. There are two access points. Both have steps. One is less of a challenge. There is a step between the two sections and to access the bathroom. So folks in wheelchairs may have difficulties. The doorways are old and narrow. There was also a significant change in the ambient temperature to a much colder one as the meal progressed. There was a wall mounted oscillating heat pump unit near the ceiling. Pushing the cold air. The servers were friendly but difficult to catch if I quickly needed something as they were very busy with the bar side. They have a lot of interesting things on the menu and I will...
Read moreMy mom and I were in Aurora antiquing and this place was recommended. Even though it's called a pub, I'd say it's halfway to dive bar. Minors are prohibited from the back half of the place. We had my toddler with us so we sat alone in the front area. The owner (?) told us the special of the day was crab and lobster Louie salad. Then a different lady came to take our order, we said we wanted Louie salad, and were brought plain shrimp Louie salads. We asked why there was no lobster and apparently there were 3 different permutations of Louie salad on special that day. We both asked to upgrade to the lobster ones and were told it would be on the house (regularly $1 extra each). When she brought my receipt back to sign, they'd snuck the $2 on without telling me. Also during our whole visit the bartender (owner?) kept giving us the stinkeye from back in the bar area through this little porthole. This was happening even before the Louie confusion; I'm not sure what was causing this. In summary, our waitress was nice but I would not return...
Read moreI visited this weekend for a friends birthday party. The wait staff was didn’t seem to want to serve the party, she was rude and in her rush to take my order she jotted down my child’s meal then walked away when I was trying to order mine. I ordered when she brought my child’s food out. She again seemed annoyed I was ordering. I ordered a children’s cheese burger and an appetizer of chicken wings, no additional drinks. The wait staff didn’t bring napkins or bother to check in to see if we needed anything else. When I cashed out, I left a $3 tip that reflected the wait staff’s attitude and in attentiveness. When I checked my account today, my $29 was $38. I called, had them pull my receipt the waitress failed to tell me there was a $5 automatic gratuity and changed my $3 tip to a $6.40 tip. The manager did refund my tip when I called but the whole thing has soured it. It’s a dive bar. The food is ok but very expensive. I will not spend...
