Review for Tiera Mack, BS - Genetic Counselor I am writing to express serious concerns regarding my experience with Tiera Mack, BS, during a recent genetic counseling session. While she appropriately addressed the room and presented herself, the overall experience was deeply disappointing and frankly unacceptable.
Despite the clinical setting, Ms. Mack demonstrated a loss of focus, disorganized interviewing process, lack of empathy, frequently interrupted, and seemed visibly stressed and disengaged. She’s not a leader, her approach felt awkward and disconnected, especially for someone in a counseling role. The questions she asked were not only overly clinical but also irrelevant to the context of the session and lacked continuity with previous evaluations. She demonstrated a lack of resourcefulness by refusing to re-search my nieces specific CHD2 mutation using standard genetic tools, and deflected accountability, which is especially troubling in a field that requires both precision and compassion. She continued to make these mistakes redundantly and in extremis throughout the encounter, which screamed “Please help me!”
What was most unsettling was her unfamiliarity with CHASERR—a gene with increasing relevance in current neurogenetic research and one that is directly implicated in our case. Her lack of awareness about CHASERR reflects either insufficient preparation or a disregard for the patient-specific context, both of which are inexcusable in a genetics consultation. Furthermore, she harped on getting EpiSign done to assess for CHD2 methylation patterns, which has limited utility in the context of developmental encephalopathy and epilepsy as seen in my niece and in truncated CHD2 variants (which Ms. Mack may have known if she had done her research) and seemed to be taken from a marketing-perspective, maybe from the goading of her boss, but one can only speculate. More concerningly, when asked for clarification on the specificity of the genetic testing she was recommending, she maintained a stance of ignorance. You then later find out that these tests are very expensive.
This experience did not reflect the standard of care or professionalism I expect from an institution like the University of Colorado. I strongly urge a review of Ms. Mack’s readiness for patient-facing roles, particularly in emotionally and scientifically complex cases, and disorganized...
Read moreMade an appointment with them for a month out, they didn't have anything sooner. Had 2 separate phone calls with their office to explain my needs and why I needed the appointment. Had the same conversation both times with different people and provided all requested information both times, apparently they don't document or share answers. During both calls I was informed no less than 4 times that my appointment was still valid and scheduled. However, when I arrived at my appointment 45 mins from home through heavy traffic after having taken the day off of work, I was informed at the check-in counter that my appointment had been cancelled a week prior. Likely shortly after my 2nd call which had assured me my appointment was still scheduled. How did they inform me that my appointment had been cancelled? They left a note for me on their web app. I have had an account with their app for 10 years and have checked it maybe 3 times and only ever post-appointment for test results. Never have a scheduled an appointment through the app or has it been used to notify me of changes to my appointment. And what was their response to my concern? "Sorry, you'll just have to reschedule." I suspect I have lost $600 in lost working time, fuel, and car wear and tear. And now I must wait another month before my next appointment which I have no guarantee of getting. Will Anschutz reimburse me for my loss due to their lack of notice? If I had sent them a text message notifying them that I would not attend my appointment, would they still charge me a no-show fee? Certainly! I am deeply frustrated that my time is not considered every bit as valuable as their own. I am a human person, I have work, I have responsibilities, and places I need to be. Shame...
Read moreAs I suspected most of the neg reviews of bad treatment are non white. For us, The ER was horrible every few times I had been. But the worst was when my daughter( 22yrs) bruised/smashed her hand. I decided to take her in because she vomit 2xs 3rd while we waited in the er. She was in so much pain she vomited, and she was shaking. I approached her ER Nurse and said my daughter vomited again she really in a lot of pain can u get her comfortable. The nurse said in a harsh tone " Iam not Giving Pain Medication to a Non Fracture Hand". She didn't mean Tylenol or Ibuprofen either I never knew level 10 pain are associated with fractures only? It was sad to see a health care worker being so cold. Bet any of her family she would want the best treatment idk maybe we didn't deserve mercy nor kindness because of our demographics, it sure felt that way. If your a bitter Healthcare worker at any level do ppl a favor move on your grace for that title has ended. When it comes to ppls health esp living or dying move on and Find a...
