I am writing this review with immense gratitude for Dr. Lanning, Dr. Jimeno and Dr.Khanwalkar, all of whom quite literally saved my life. I was diagnosed with a rare form of stage 4 cancer called neuroendocrine carcinoma and was terrified. I had a large tumor that sat inside the upper part of my nose and ballooned up to the front of my brain.
From the moment I met the trio I knew I was in the best hands. They exuded hope, strength, and ultimately, healing. They took the time to explain my diagnosis and treatment plan, ensuring I understood every step. Despite the complexity of my condition, they approached it with unwavering compassion and emotional support, confident and the determined to cure me. Through six grueling rounds of chemotherapy and 35 rounds of radiation, Dr. Lanning, Dr. Jimeno, Dr.Khanwalkar, and their team were the only Doctors in the country who were familiar with my rare diagnosis and how not just treat it but cure it.
There were moments when I felt hopeless, but they always reassured me with their positivity and deep understanding of my diagnosis. They celebrated every small victory with me, making sure I never felt alone in my fight. Their dedication to personalized care and innovative treatment gave me a 2nd chance at life.
Thanks to Dr. Lanning, Dr. Jimeno, Dr.Khanwalkar and their incredible team, the tumor completely disappeared 6 months later and I was able to embrace life again. Words cannot fully express my gratitude, and if I could rate them with a million stars instead of five, they would be more than deserving of that.
Dr. Lanning, Dr. Jimeno, and Dr. Khanwalkar, will forever be part of my life no matter where I am. I was so incredibly lucky to have them as my team of Doctors. They will never be forgotten and I will always cherish each...
Read moreWhen my mom was first diagnosed with Leukemia in 2006, the staff at Anschutz Cancer Center was amazing. She was under the care of Dr. Myint, him and his team provided the utmost care to my mom both in treatment as well as personal care. The compassion and empathy went hand-in-hand and truly provided the comprehensive care she needed as well as our family. Fast forward to 2018, diagnosed for a second time--it was no question that we would head north to the care and organization that we trusted, referred countless people to, and knew would try treat us like family once again. Wrong. Dr Myint had unfortunately relocated, Dr. Gutman became my mom's doctor. We had met him briefly during her first diagnosis; however, the second experience was much different. He forgot to humanize the patient that had all of her faith in him and his care. As my mom's condition worsened, she became just another numbered patient and checklist call. The week that she passed the ICU doctor (in our town) called his team and asked for assistance, should we bring her to Aurora? is there anything we can relay to the doctors here that would make her more comfortable? just wanting a sense of comfort or guidance from her specialists during a difficult time. The coordinator asked if she was on speaker (she was not, but our family could hear), then said "just keep her there, we would not do anything for her here". I understand growth, I was happy to see the expansions and opportunities from the first diagnosis to the second, but devastated to see that it was at the cost of patient care. Sadly, I will not be speaking so highly of a facility that I once had...
Read moreDr. Jaime Arruda & her care team are one of the best I've had! It was refreshing to have an all-female gynecologic oncology team. As a mid/late-20s woman, advocating for my own reproductive care has always been incredibly frustrating. I'm sure many women can relate that external factors such as male providers, age, & spousal status have been unnecessary barriers when trying to receive quality, unbiased gyncologic care.
I haven't had any of those issues with UCHealth. Dr. Arruda & Nurse Mari took the time to review my medical history in depth, & helped me make informed decisions for my condition. They took the time to genuinely listen to all of my concerns with compassion, & made sure I was educated about all of the options available to me before proceeding with any decisions. As a patient, I felt valued & my needs were taken seriously.
From my surgeon, to nurses, to anesthesiologist, to medical students -- every personnel was exceptional. My treatment was so good that it made me want join the medical profession so that I could help give other women the same experience...
