This yoga studio is super cool. This location is clean and has two yoga studios in one building, so there will often be two classes going at once but they also have their own parking lot with plenty of spots. The studio is an older building but lots of bright light from the windows and cool art/lights on the ceiling make it feel comfortable. There are a ton of different yoga instructors here and there are honestly so many different instructors for the basic flow classes that I can hardly remember their names but they are all super nice and friendly. I love that they offer different types of classes, some really unique things that other yoga studios do not. The HOT ON IT class with Gypsy was awesome! This studio definitely is not as nice/fancy as others I've been to but the prices are low (I sign up on classpass) and the instructors really know what they are doing. The studio is also always pretty clean.
COVID: I have been coming here almost weekly since August 2020 & so far there can be anywhere from 12-23 people in a class. They are not allowing people to use the cubbies to prevent creating a high touch area. Some instructors make a big effort to tell everyone to breathe out through the nose to prevent spreading droplets from the mouth and some tell us to please wear our masks while others don't mention it. There is a cute sign by the door encouraging attendees to wear masks. However, when there is more than 15 people in the studio I feel really uncomfortable, as it is not large enough to spread 6 ft apart at that point. I wish they would cap how many people could come to class (10 people? 15?) and would pay a little more to attend a...
Read moreI love it here! I am sure all of the instructors are amazing, but so far I particularly love classes taught by Liberty, Stephanie, and Nicole!! I love the philosophy behind black swan yoga, I love how it is an affordable donation based studio, and how all of the instructors make everyone feel so welcomed and appreciated. I have started going at least twice a week, might aim for 3x a week next month :) I have been doing the Flow classes, they are all levels, and the instructors will offer alternate positions for different levels and suggest advancements for the more senior or experienced yogis. I feel like I am somewhere in the middle, not a beginner but also not advanced, and the classes are perfect since I can take the postures I need to make the most of my practice and get my workout & sweat on. And if i’m ever having an off day and get too winded, I just go into a child’s pose or a down dog! no judgement, no pressure. You know your body best and when you need to rest :) I have also brought friends who are beginners and they said they liked the class as well and found they were able to get a good flow in. finally, i love the emphasis BSY puts on community. and how they have complimentary hair ties at the desk for people like me who constantly are losing or...
Read moreBlack Swan Yoga have heard of it I've never been there. I'm reading it at 3 as it's moved into the area and looks good. I have interviewed three or four people that go there and have pretty much the same response that it's Black Swan Yoga that has been around for awhile it has a particular membership that is all being a little bit metrosexual and clicky. I have a hard time with that all alone given the realm of which it is supposed to be. I don't do anything that is contrary to what it is supposed to be. When I think of yoga I think of Swami's quiet incense and things away from snotty comparative people. Evidently this is not always the case it Black Swan but then again this is only what I have heard. I have been threatening to go and experience it myself. Because I need something like this in my life for relaxation and stretching Etc given that I am 65 years old. But in all fairness perhaps I should do that. I just wanted to chime in about what I had heard. And anybody reading this review should consider it as such. This is not a good bona fide review of actual circumstances this is all second hand news and hearsay. There...
