Lone Star Kolaches — Restaurant in Austin

I so wanted to like this place as I love kolaches. Customer service was amazing, the nice woman at the counter answered my questions and was welcoming.

The establishment was clean and had comfortable seating along with multiple selections of kolaches which looked so inviting - they have both sweet and savory ones. They even have breakfast tacos and specialty coffees that smelled amazing.

Unfortunately their kolaches just were not that good.

I ordered the Sausage, Cheese & Jalapeno - the sausage tasted a bit old, the cheese dried up, and that poor pitiful shriveled up slice of one jalapeno just was not an appetizing filling. This was surrounded by a semi hard dough that was thick and just not that good.

and the Jalapeño Popper w/Bacon - again, the dough to filling ratio was disappointing, too much dough.. The filling was mostly a scoop of cream cheese with a hint of bacon and I really did not get any jalapeno taste out of it. The whole kolache again tasted a bit old.

As far as kolaches go, this place did not impress me much. Customer Service was good so I give it a 3 stars instead of a 2...

Whew! Is there something less than a star? This place is a disaster. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. Honestly, this is my 2nd time here and on my 1st visit I promised myself, it was my last time but Alas! It was along the way. I've visited other locations and my experience has been wonderful. The women that work here are very rude and do not listen to you. It was not busy when I went in and I felt like they just wanted to get rid of me. They got my order wrong had to almost yell it at them. One rolled her eyes at me when asked if I could have my kolache warmed up. I wanted an iced coffee, which was charged and she just told me there was ice in soda machine and coffee. Was I supposed to make my own iced coffee? What a joke. They had a clearly labeled iced coffee menu but here I am. I got a hot coffee since I didn't want to make a scene but come on lady. literally called this morning and placed a order for cinnamon rolls for my company and was told 1 hours wait. we said ok and we were fine with that. once i sent my employee to go pick it up they told her oh we canceled the order but you can wait another hour and a half for us to make them..... we never called back to cancel and I'm not sure if they just didn't want to do there job.... I'm not sure but i know now i will never order form this spot because they don't want to do there job and make a simple order of 8 cinnamon rolls. I'm very disappointed in the staff and there communication. this is 2 days in a row we tried to order the employee's cinnamon rolls and this location cannot pull through. Update: we got our cinnamon rolls finally but not from here. They made us 12 rolls in 15 minutes and didn't give any attitude to us about it and they taste way better not to much cinnamon and just enough sweet and roll. 😀 Now I'm happy but I'm just still very disappointed in...
