I seriously don't think we will be going back. If you had looked at my review 8 months ago I gave a 5 star rating but my son took me there tonight and we were both very disappointed. They are remodeling and that is fine but our waiter was just ok. I wish we had gotten his name. We were a party of 3 and we also had a expensive to go order. I was really surprised that we ordered 3 to go plates and when I asked for the chips and salsa I was charged an additional $6.00 for the chips and salsa. Most places give you the chips and salsa when you have a to go order. If I had ordered in they would have been given to me, right? Are you kidding me. I just ordered an additional 35.00 dollars worth of food and after the bill is paid I had to pay for the chips and salsa too? Which I didn't get my change back! No I wasn't going to cause a scene for five bucks but I will be sure to get my waiters name if we go back in the future. The food wasn't as good as usual. I am not sure what tasted different but even my son commented on the taste of the tacos. My experience was the cheese enchiladas. I asked for refried beans and got charro but they were good so that was fine. Also the Margaritas were delicious so that says a lot. Still I am very dissatisfied with our server and the fact that he didn't bring our change back...

This place - El Nuevo Restaurant - 911 West Anderson Ln., ATX. This is Wednesday, June 1, 2022.

I am stunned.

I started eating at this restaurant about 3 weeks ago - 3 to 4 times a week, spending $40+ each time. I always had problems with my orders - reason being is the waitresses had difficulty understanding me. No problem, until tonight - Wednesday, June 1,2022. When my bill did not add up I asked the waitress about it. She gets “mgr./sister/owner.” This person ignorantly says to me, “ Every time you come in there’s a problem.” What? She infers because I am white I cause problems- what? When I try to talk with her, she argues- WITH A CUSTOMER OF A RESTAURANT. What this uneducated bigoted family restaurant owner did not know is I have a beloved half brother, who is Mexican. The dense nerve of this person is beyond belief. Obviously she does not need my business or that of any other “white/non Hispanic” person - she continued arguing with me as I was leaving. Also, they own El Nuevo Restaurant, 201 Childers Dr., Bastrop, TX. To El Nuevo Restaurant Family - as intimidating as she is to your family (brother also inferred that to me) get her out of the public. To the people/public - There are so many good non bigoted Mexican restaurants in & around ATX -...

Other than the salsa, it was all pretty terrible. There was no wait to be seated, no one in line, yet I waited several minutes before any employee acknowledged me. Not a great start but no big deal. The server did return to take my order in a timely fashion and my order was accurate, though I wish I had ordered something else or better yet, just eat elsewhere. I had their $6.25 lunch combo of two "entrees" and two "sides." Ride and black beans, fine. Chicken "burritto" had a fishy sort of smell and some of the meat chunks where dry, some of it looked a tad pink still. The beef taco... almost no cheese at all. I mentioned this to the server, she just said it's how they serve their lunch. No attempt to make it better, no attempt to see what could be done. I waited a little longer and finally spoke with the manager. He had the same approach but when I politely gave up, he did reduce the cost of my meal. I'm sorry but this food was terrible. A few months ago I ordered a potato, egg and cheese breakfast taco and the cheese they used was cheese whiz style product and not at all appetizing. There are many worthwhile tex-mes places in Austin and this definitely is one that I will drive right past...

Stopped into this spot after big star bingo and was pleasantly surprised with the food and level of service. We got the stuffed avocado and grande burrito covered with queso. Both plates packed great flavors and we also enjoyed the red salsa with chips which they give you as a complementary appetizer. The house margarita is a very reasonable price around $6 and tasted pretty good! Moreover than the food, we really enjoyed how attentive the servers were with chips and drink refills which is hard to find these days. Would recommend stopping in if you are in the area and craving some mexican food.

𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝟑 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐬. Stopped in on a whim for lunch. I ordered the lunch special, which was the option between a few entrées and a side. I got the beef burrito and chicken enchilada with a side of refried beans. Unfortunately, the food didn’t do too much to impress and served its purpose without being too memorable. A fine dining experience, quick service, friendly staff, but simple ingredients and a simple meal that kind of left a bit to be desired. Portion size was OK. Obviously, free chips and salsa. Probably wouldn’t revisit, but fine for a one time stop.

Fajitas & margaritas were our goal, and El Nuevo delivered! We enjoyed their Bastrop location's catering a month ago at a small country wedding in Bastrop County, so we had to check out their Austin location as well. It was definitely up to snuff. The beef fajitas are so tender and flavorful, I think I prefer them to my usual pick of chicken. We couldn't quit eating their complimentary warm, toasty chips & spicy salsa. Attentive staff, safe indoor or outdoor seating and masks, delicious food, and a full bar. We'll be back!
