SOHA 소하 — Restaurant in Austin

This restaurant is not hospitable. We didn’t end up dining here because once you walk in the door, you are not welcomed with friendliness; adding the dark atmosphere plus the staff unwilling to be hospitable/accommodating, it just quickly diminishes any desire to eat here.

I’ve seen and passed by this spot several times. It was late night (pass 10:30pm on a week night) and there are limited dine in options that late, so we decided to give this restaurant a try and we were excited to finally visit for the first time.

We walked in and the restaurant is empty with only 2 guests being serviced in the entire dining area. The one staff that was standing there seemed glad there are finally other guests that arrived and directed us to be seated at a very small table even though the restaurant is empty.

We asked if we could be seated at a slightly bigger table, because we were planning to order a good amount of food for the table plus the restaurant is just empty, but the staff struggled to accommodate us to any other table and asked the boss lady in back of the house what to do and the lady responded coldly with a no go. The staff told us they cannot accommodate and if we want to be seated at a bigger table, we must order a lot of food to be deserving to be seated there….. I mean we were planning to order a good amount of food to try but after this inhospitable engagement, its over - thank you, next.

The restaurant was empty and let’s say they somehow expect many more people to magically show up later, there are plenty of ways to handle the situation significantly better than being unhelpful and rude.

If you ever drive by this place and wonder…..don’t wonder; go to a fast food restaurant and be greeted and treated with better service instead. You will save a lot more money and the food is equally as bad for...

Usually have had no issues with this restaurant except for the last two times I was here. Previous time I was here with a group of friends who had never been here before as we were enjoying our time catching up we were unexpectedly rushed out of our table it wasn’t an ask it was a we need the table so go type of thing. I called the establishment before going back to it, assured that there was no new policy that said a table would only be reserved for a certain time as I wanted to take some friends from out of town to catch up and didn’t want to be pressured in that way to leave the table when we were still chatting and drinking. The manager told me that was not the case and to let them know when I would be coming in on Saturday so I could receive good treatment. Saturday comes (today) and I go to the restaurant and don’t notify him when I go as I want a genuine experience only to have the same experience, as polite as the waitress may have been asking us to leave the table we were left with a half finished soju mid conversation after being kindly asked to leave for a different table (when we patiently waited the allotted time for our table) now awkward sitting there feeling pressured to cut our conversation short and leave...

Been coming to this restaurant for years but our most recent visit was definitely the worst. They said 10 mins but we waited almost an hour for a party of 6. Everything went well until we got one of the waitresses started showing her attitude because our last dish was pushed back without informing us. We couldn’t wait anymore and decided to ask for the bill, they gave us one hell of a look and said that we had to pay for it. Fine. However, after we got the bill and paid, they came over and said that they forgot to charge us the extra fee for party of 6??? What do you mean “forgot”? We asked for 6 people to begin with, came in with 6 people and the bill was CHARGED for 6 people? Afterwards, one of the employees told us: “it’s fine you guys can just leave” and walked away? Did we came here and begged for food?? That was horrible. We have never felt so mistreated like this before and decided to never come back to this establishment.
