Went in for the first time yesterday wanting to find some new board games for my boyfriend and I for a gift. When I came inside despite two people sitting at the counter, and being the only customer I was not welcomed. There was a large selection of board games, and for that reason I just wanted to see if they could suggest any good two player board games. I asked the young girl behind the counter who appeared to be on her phone prior to me asking, when I asked she sort of looked at me strangely and without saying anything turned to the older man behind her for an answer. He named two games that might be good and said āif we have them in stockā and brought me to the general area most the two player games were. I was expecting he might point out the games since he only said the names quickly once. I ended up picking up two games that I could read from the back saying they were two player. When I got to the counter (again the girl was back on her phone) I smiled politely and said āI think I found two good ones!ā expecting some sort of comment on the games I picked since clearly I was trying to ask for help. No reply at all back. I felt alienated for trying to talk to them/ask for service at their store. I have worked in customer service for 8 years and this is by far some of the worst customer service I have received by a small business. I was extremely disappointed because I really wanted to support a small business instead of ordering the same games online. Despite the store having some cool stuff, I certainly will not be going back. Not sure if I was treated this way because I am a young woman who clearly did not know much about the items they sell there. Game Citadel is unfortunately, despite their selection of items, severely lacking in customer service and...

I play a few tabletop games, and I always come here for new books/dice. As an aside, there are always some slick looking dice on sale. They just about always have all of the current edition DnD books in stock, as well as a great selection of books from previous editions. There isnāt just a good selection for DnD, but basically all of the relevant tabletop systems, and there are usually several interesting niche games as well. For instance, I recently picked up the new edition of Call of Cāthulu, that Star Wars RPG from the 80s, and a few other neat finds. The selection is great, if it isnāt there the first time you go, give it a week.
In terms of GCās selection in other departments, it seems to be the same level of variety for Magic & Warhammer, video games for earlier consoles, and niche board games for that one night you and your friends are having a few drinks.
There are a few negative comments about the storeās owner. I donāt agree with them as my experiences with him are always positive. Heās a rather quiet fellow, but heās always polite and helpful as long as you reciprocate that energy, and arenāt entitled/annoying. You try running a game store (or any small business for that matter) during Covid.
Iāve been a patron of the store for several years, and I plan on continuing to be.
Overall the store is a 9/10. Unrivaled in the area. I wish you guys would do a board game night every now and then so GMs, players and people interested in tabletops could network. Could be a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThey call this a gaming paradise. I've only been talked down to or insulted when I go in. They act like they really don't need anyone's business. Quite frankly from the other reviews and other people I talk to. I'm not sure how this place even stays open. There are many kind inviting collectibles shops around here, if you want a nice experience ( and I went in multiple times because I get people have bad days) I'd avoid this place [edit]
I went down through the reviews of the owner just projecting and acting like a child. Many times where people felt so discouraged by simply asking questions. I wasn't arrogant to him, only asked questions about the magic cards and a couple about the retro consoles. As a person who tries to always put his best foot foreward I wanna plug a store I feel does what is needed. That's northeast collectibles. He is nice and kind, remembered my name even though I only said it once three months ago. I picked his brain about his favorite shows and really am excited about joining the mtg community. Felt like every store would treat me like game citadel, to my surprise I fell in love with northeast!!! I will always buy my stuff from northeast, a couple of members even talked to my girlfriend and I about joining and playing in the store. I might be a smile bubbly person but I always try to veer away from settings where I'm catching flak for existing. I may not be your average card player, but isn't that the essence of the...
