My wife and I went in to potentially purchase another couch. In the past we have purchased an entire living room set & two separate recliners from Broadway Furniture. We have always been happy with the customer service and the products. Today was an entirely different experience.

We located a small couch that would work for our family room and went to speak with a salesman about it. We made sure to find the sales person who had first said hello to us when we entered the store as a courtesy to him. (although I have no idea if they are paid commission or not)

He answered our questions in a polite but less than friendly manner. After we had discussed it, we decided to make the purchase. My wife asked if there was any discount available on the item and we were told no. This was not a problem for us and we told him we would take it.

I asked him about having it delivered and he told us it would be a $110 delivery fee. I inquired if he could do anything to lower the delivery fee and he asked where we lived. We told him we were right in Bangor (we live less than 2 miles from the store but he never asked specifically where in Bangor we lived). His response was curt to say the least. His reply to us was "No, gas is expensive".

At that point I had had enough and told him we were going to pass on it. His reply was "ok" and he walked off. Had this gentleman taken the time to show any kind of empathy in explaining he couldn't do anything, or shown any interest in offering even a token discount of $10 we would have made our 3rd purchase from the store and continued to sing their praises.

It was very disappointing to say the least.

They sell high quality furniture and have amazing sales throughout the year in which you can save hundreds of dollars if you can wait for the sale. They have a large selection and you can find something for every sense of style. They deliver for free on purchases over $699 but will deliver for a reasonable fee if under that amount. They will also set up and haul away your old furniture if you want. I have purchased all my new furniture from them and have been doing business with them for the last 12 years. I recently bought a sofa its just perfect and i am very pleased in the past i have also bought 3 mattress and 2 bed frames and am also quite happy with them as well. The first mattress and bed frame i bought from them when i was like 21 years old, i didn't have much money at all, they allowed me to make a deposit to secure what i wanted and i made payments on them, i wasn't able to take them home till i had it paid in full but it held the cheaper sale price for me and was a much better deal then renting to own from like rent a center (i would have paid double) and i didn't mind waiting for the new bed to save $800. They staff is friendly and they have a very comfortable atmosphere no pushy sales people and they listen to what you want and help you find something to fit perfectly in your home. I will always do business with them when it comes to...

Went looking for a recliner for my wife. She is only 4'11 so it had to be a lower seat than most recliners. Saw an ad in the Bangor Daily News for Furniture Gallery.Got there ( 100 miles from home) saw the store front and our first thought was a very expensive looking place but we figured after the long drive we would look any way. When we walked in we were greeted by a friendly salesman. He told us to look around and if we needed help to let him know. Because of both of us being disabled I told him exactly what we needed.He said the recliners are upstairs !! Then he explained there was an elevator !! He met us upstairs and directed us t the recliner section. No pressure at all just help.He showed us a couple of different styles they had that were short in the seat. We found exactly what we wanted and it was very reasonably priced. Still no pressure !! We told him we would take it and we went back down the elevator to where the sales secretary was.Finished the paper work and were on our way..
