Well, well, yet another bad experience in Bangor, ME when it comes to Chinese food. It's unbelievable really, considering the excellent Chinese food elsewhere in this country. First, let me say, I am a native New Yorker, so obviously I have had the best Chinese food available. That being said, the prices here are insane. I am posting photos of a Chinese restaurant menu in Manhattan that my father frequents for take out. As for CHINA WOK, the Wonton Soup was so salty my heart started racing. I ate the solids and only some of the broth. When I called, asking which wontons they used, the thin-skinned variety or the thicker doughy kind, I was told they were of the thicker variety. I was disappointed until my order arrived only to find they were the Szechuan thin-skinned wontons, which are preferable. Why they didn't even know what they were serving is unbelievable! The General Tso's chicken looked like sweet and sour chicken, small round globs of coated chicken, no peppers in sight and 2 pieces of broccoli. This is disgraceful! Also, it was a lighter color, compatible with sweet and sour but not General Tso's. This is my roommate's favorite dish, or was, until last night. The Singapore Mei fun (curry rice noodles with shrimp, pork, chicken and veg's) was so dry, had no flavor, barely there curry and the noodles were undercooked, to boot. Into the trash it went. Oh, and FYI, in NYC they NEVER use tiny shrimp, no matter the dish, ALWAYS jumbo and for much less. As for the beef lo mein, they did not include mushrooms or scallions which is a staple in this dish. HORRIBLE! How any of the restaurants in this town can claim to have good Chinese food is a mystery. I suppose the people in this area are not travelers and do not know what good Chinese food really is. As a professional, private chef (as well as careers in the film, music and writing industries) who makes excellent Chinese food, I am thoroughly appalled by what passes for cuisine in Bangor, on any level. Take a look at the prices in a city where people make over 200k per year and tell me if you are being treated fairly. Also, in NYC you can ask for extra this or that and not pay extra. In addition you get 1 quart of rice for every dish ordered, notice also the combination plates all come with soup, all condiments are included and you can take or ask for as many as you want, wonton soups are filled to the brim and have more wontons than you will ever get here and if you needed even more wontons, you will not be charged. It is called courtesy because they want you to return. DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS RESTAURANT IF YOU WANT GOOD FOOD. Just trying to alert you to its problems. I only ordered because I am sick right now and did not feel like cooking. I should have rallied. Ugh... And one last thing that I found amusing, when I called to place my delivery order I was told that I could only use a card if the charge was over $100. I do not like giving my card number and surely not my three digit code over the phone, so was forced to remove two items in order to be able to pay in cash. Are they nuts? They obviously do not wish to make money. Very funny... and not very bright. Oh, and in case you do not wish to browse the NY menus below, as an example, I paid $15.25 for the Singapore Mei fun from China Wok. At New Dynasty the same dish with jumbo shrimp costs $9.45 and that is the most expensive of the chow and mei funs. Beef chow or mei fun is only $8.90 - same portions, 1 quart. Oh, and a large wonton soup (1 quart) is $5.90, here it is $9.55 with less wontons and WAY too much salt. ...

I've been to China Wok 3 times now since they opened and to be honest I'm not really impressed with their food quality or customer service let alone prices at all! I think China light was much better! I got takeout from this place last night at last minute before they closed at 10pm which normally I'd never do but it was 9:40 and I politely asked the lady on the phone if it would be an issue and she said no! I ordered $76 worth of food which wasn't much food at all but come to find out the menu prices are insane especially for the quality of food I got. The girl on the phone was very short with me and rude and yes I know it was almost closing time but geez I know many places that will gladly take your business with a smile on their face and a great attitude right up till close and this place wasn't one of them! They said my order would be 20 minutes but they called me 10 minutes after I ordered wondering where I was when I was told I still had 10 minutes left before the food would even be ready! Lol. Long story short I'm not saying this place is bad cause it could be much worse but I am saying outta the 3 times I've eaten there none have been a good experience and I guess compared to the other few takeout places in Bangor and one in brewer I would rate this place...

This small hole in the wall was closed down and re-opened under a new name and it should have stayed shut down.

Tonight I, and my family were served 3 entire meals of Orange chicken and Chicken Teriyaki sides and the chicken was Pink in all 3 meals.

This will be the last time I ever go there, I also recommend all other people stay away. Raw or under cooked Chicken can KILL SOMEONE.

The Restaurant is not kept very clean either. You can see the mess by the cook's area and it's not appetizing at all.

They try to be friendly and I appreciate that, but they also don't speak English and while I'm not bothered if someone doesn't speak English normally, it's kind of essential when you run a business IN AMERICA. The child (Maybe he's 12??) who I assume was the son of someone who works there or owns the place rang up my order today. He speaks English. I guess that's why they have him...

Ordered the combo #22 which came with General chicken, pork fried rice and an egg roll. Also got an order of chicken fingers. The General chicken was good, just a bit too sweet for my tastes but still pretty good. I wasn't crazy about the rice but the chickens fingers and egg roll were my favorite. There was enough food for leftovers. It was very busy, and the young girls working the counter seemed a bit overwhelmed and I had to wait a while even though I ordered ahead. More than one customer claimed they called in their order but the workers couldn't find it and they had to re-order. I will definitely be back to try their other menu items.
