A Grateful Testimonial for Blind and Sons
My mother recently needed her central air and heating system replaced. She called around to several companies, but unfortunately, many of them gave her the runaround—likely taking advantage of the fact that she’s a woman who doesn’t speak English well. I was deeply upset by some of the quotes she received. For example, she currently had a 90,000 BTU furnace and a 2.5-ton AC unit, but one well-known company came in with a fancy laptop-generated spec sheet recommending only 35,000 BTUs—nowhere near what she actually needed. That just didn’t sit right with me.
Thankfully, I remembered my dear childhood friend Billy McManigal. We grew up together in North Hill, and one thing about people from the Hill—your word is your bond. I knew Billy was working with Blind and Sons, and I trust him completely. Even though he was on vacation at the time, he was kind enough to help right away. He gave me solid advice about what my mom needed and promised someone from the company would follow up. Sure enough, the very next day I received a call from their receptionist, and an appointment was set for that same day.
That’s when I met Lee Lora, the sales representative. Lee is wonderful—straightforward, honest, and incredibly knowledgeable. As we spoke, he could sense I was still a little hesitant. He took the time to break everything down for me in clear terms and answered every single one of my questions. His professionalism and empathy gave me the reassurance I needed to move forward with the installation. Lee made sure the install was scheduled for the following week.
Today was installation day, and everything went just as promised. I received a text bright and early from CJ, the installer, who was punctual and professional. He walked me through the entire layout and process. Later, Noah joined him, and together they made an excellent team. CJ is a top-notch technician—knowledgeable, courteous, and skilled.
This entire experience has been nothing short of exceptional. Blind and Sons has earned my full confidence and trust. Each of their team members brought skill, professionalism, and genuine care. They made my mother feel respected and valued—like she was one of their own. That’s how it should be.
As someone who owns multiple properties, I can honestly say I look forward to continuing my relationship with Blind and Sons. Sure, you might save a few bucks hiring an independent contractor, but when your loved one is on a fixed income, it’s not worth the gamble. You never know if that contractor will be around later when problems arise. With Blind and Sons, I know we’re covered—they offer a 10-year warranty that gives me peace of mind.
Thank you, Blind and Sons, for making this such an easy and positive experience. Special thanks to my dear friend Billy McManigal—your help meant the world to both me and my mom. Thank you CJ and Noah, you did a wonderful job. Thank you Lee Lora, you’re a great salesman, and yes—you did make Billy a great boss (lol).
This turned out to be a truly wonderful day. Thank you again, Blind and...
Read moreWe had a new down-flow furnace with Air scrubber and whole house air purifier installed into a central closet. Our home is a single story ranch built on a slab, so to be completely fair, it isn't the most ideal for HVAC renovations.
The consultation was fine; however the salesman made several errors in selecting the correct equipment even after consultation with the office (or whomever he called). Some of the issues were understandable, such as the humidifier wouldn't fit furle to the size of the plenum aftet it was specially fabricated; but selecting the wrong size furnace even after measuring was in acceptable.
The initial install was terrible. The crew was on time and cordial, no issue there; but they seemed more concerned about getting done and and finding reasons why equipment wouldn't fit or work. A few shortcuts were taken (not adequately sealing the unit) and one code violation was observed (stack outlet sitting directly on roof without 12" minimum rise).
One installer drilled down from the attic, 27" from wall, to run a condensate to a wall mount laundry sink in my laundry room. A second hole was randomly drilled 16" from the wall before I personally drilled and ran a fish tap from below in less than 2 minutes. I'm still at a loss for words.
All that said, after a few phone calls, the service manager and install manager personally came out ad agreed that the install was terrible. Long story short, the install manager personal supervised the reinstall (about 2 weeks later) and everything was replaced and sealed properly. The end result is exceptional. Everything looks professionally done and all the equipment that "couldn't be installed the first time" is now in place.
In the end, I'm totally happy even though it took longer than it should have. The fact that Blind&Sons made it right speaks to their commitment to service. I recommend a thorough overview of the install between the installer and the customer take place when the install team arrives. I believe this would have mitigated many if the issues and managed the installer's expectation of an "easy day". I was up front about all the issues and concerns I had with the installation and I think they underestimated it. I didn't choose their job, if they were overwhelmed stop and get someone who knows, don't try and slap something together. I would definitely use Blind&Sons again, but I'd do your homework beforehand to know what your getting and hold them accountable. I also ask the company to square away...
Read moreUpdate: Once again, incredibly please with Blind and Sons team, this time electrician Steve M.
He was very thorough in completing the estimates needed to get our 100-year-old wiring to a place where I felt comfortable "in case of an emergency" and completed the work timely and efficiently.
He was kind throughout the process and understanding of my bazillion questions 😅
Kudos Blind & Sons for hiring great crew members and thank you Steve for your excellent help.
Blind and Sons, particularly Karl and Jared, were great to work with! Karl came for the initial inspection/consultation on our new home and then returned, along with Jared, to complete the project.
We recently purchased and moved into a nearly 100-year old home and needed some leaky faucets and pipes looked at.
When Karl came to do the inspection he was incredibly kind, thorough and patient while I worked with my partner to determine how we'd move forward as far as the scope of work.
Karl wasn't too pushy or sales-y; he quoted us on the work that was needed plus wrote up a project to replace a LOT of pipes and fixtures that doing now would save us time, money (and headache!) in the long run.
We ended up going with the full project and appreciate the same-as-cash financing available with Blind and Sons.
Karl and Jared came to complete the project and I'm beyond impressed. They were kind to me, the kiddos and pups while doing their work- which was done efficiently and professionally.
They cleaned up everything, in fact going the extra mile to move the washer and dryer where we needed it to be and ensured working order with all aspects.
We signed up for the MVP program and appreciate the integrity of Karl and Jared thru this process. Thanks Blind and Sons for taking good care of...
