I recently undertook a renovation project that involved installing a 15x20 deck and renovating a basement over 1,000 sq ft. After reaching out to over 20 local companies, I was disappointed by the lack of responsiveness. More than half never showed up to provide an estimate. Out of the half dozen estimates we received, Father and Son Building and Remodeling stood out. Although they weren't the cheapest option, they demonstrated a thorough understanding of what it would take to complete both projects simultaneously. They provided clear expectations for turnaround times, and their contract was comprehensive, detailing many aspects of the work. Their payment schedule was both reasonable and reassuring, requiring payments only as each phase of the project was completed. In contrast, nearly all other companies demanded half of the total cost upfront, which felt excessive and could have potentially left us in a vulnerable position.
The results of both projects were fantastic. A key element that contributed to this success was the communication. Doug, the project lead, set up a group chat with my wife and me, ensuring we were always informed about the progress. Daily check-ins kept us updated on who was coming out and what would be accomplished. We had weekly targets to track the project's progress effectively.
Doug went above and beyond by being present for inspections, even waiting outside our home to meet inspectors and facilitate their walkthroughs and inspection process. Given the complexity and scale of this project, Doug and the Father and Son Building and Remodeling team managed the moving parts seamlessly.
I highly recommend Father and Son Building and Remodeling, especially Doug, for any home renovation needs. Their professionalism, attention to detail, and commitment to communication made a potentially stressful renovation process smooth...
Read moreThis is getting here late because I forgot to hit save afterwards: I hired Father and Son to rebuild a ruined deck. The deck is an incredible piece of work. The design of the deck into relation to how it fits my space is perfect. You can tell a lot of thought went into the approach to the job. I never felt out of the loop when or confused when the behind the scene action was happening. The best part of the experience were the guys they sent over to build. Jimmy and Cruz (maybe misspellings), were amazing at what they did. They both worked through rough conditions while maintaining professionalism through out the whole process. They both would take time to explain what was being built and why. I never felt rushed out of the way or uncomfortable with what was going on.
Both were very knowledgeable in their craft.
They are the reason I recommended Father and Son to my mother for a project she has been considering for a bit.
My project manager, Mike, kept me updated on everything that was going on through out the project. There were minor delays in the beginning, but Mike kept the schedule moving fast enough that my deck was completed well ahead of my initial need for the deck, which was Christmas 2024.
Once again, Jimmy and Cruz were amazing and my deck really shows how hard they worked. When I get my other decks done I am going to talk with Father and Son building first. Then request that these guys are the ones building it.
Awesome experience. My neighbors love the new view. I will update this review with photos at a later date.
Once again, sorry to Father and Son building, especially Jimmy, Cruz, and Mike for getting this in a...
Read moreOur experience with Father and Son was nothing short of a blessing. We wanted to create an open concept from our dining room, living room and kitchen area, so we had walls removed, recessed lighting installed, crown molding installed, new flooring new paint and redid our half bathroom along with installing new kitchen cabinets, countertop and sink.
Jonathan thoroughly explained everything that needed to be done and a ball park estimate on the time frame.
The whole process took 3 months with all the inspections. He finished faster then we expected considering the amount of work that needed to be done and the amount of time was taken for inspections. Thankfully there wasnt any unforeseen issues in the walls, with my subflooring or with any electrical or plumbing from my kitchen and bathroom. We were staying with family until the project was done and were anxious to get back home.
I had a good idea what I wanted and when I explained it to Jonathan, it was like he already knew and envisioned the same thing for my house and it showed in his work. I love how open my house is now and after getting 4 different estimates, we are so glad we went with...
