I was really excited about the opening of this restaurant but the food and the service missed the mark for me. My family and I waited a little under 30 minutes for a table which was expected, as they were very busy. We were seated at a table in a spacious room with tables, half booths and a tv playing sports. Our server arrived to the table fairly quickly and was pretty friendly. For starters we ordered the Aunt Bee's biscuits and Drunken wings with Carolina bbq sauce. The biscuits were soft and came with a maple cinnamon butter and a strawberry butter that was delicious and not too sweet. The Carolina bbq wings had a mustard flavor that we didn't expect but it wasn't bad. I also ordered a spirit free Sangria that was flavorful and garnished well with blackberries. After we finished our appetizers we ordered the chicken club, halfway to nashville (grilled) and the bbq brewmaster burger for entrees. Here is where the service and food took a turn. We waited for over 30 minutes for our food to arrive. No one really came to our table to update us on the status of our order. When the food finally did come out all of our fries that came with our meals were hard and cold. We were able to flag someone down and they brought out fries that were hot and fresh, which was great, but they tasted pretty bland. The sandwiches were hot and the buns were soft and buttery but the chicken on the halfway to nashville was just ok and could've used more seasoning. My family felt the same about the burger and the chicken club. During our meal and after we finished we barely saw our server. It was so bad that my family joked with a couple sitting across from us (who had the same server) about the long wait. Both parties were ready for the bill and it seemed like he had disappeared to another area of the restaurant. After a long wait he finally returned and we paid and left. I understand that the restaurant is new and they have a few kinks to work out but I was not impressed. I would come here again but only...
Read moreFantastic new restaurant in South Barrington! My husband and I love trying out new or new to us restaurants. Tangled Roots was a wonderful experience from start to finish. Our server, Gina, and her trainee, Serena, provided outstanding service. I’m not a beer drinker, but when in Rome…. Gina was able to provide recommendations for the most non-beer like beer that they have, and I was not disappointed. Both the Peach Vibe and the Vermillion River Weiss were outstanding. We started with appetizers, trying both Aunt Bee’s Biscuits and the Cauliflower Bites. The biscuits were huge, light, and fluffy, and they came with two kinds of butter. Amazing. The cauliflower bites were perfect. Not greasy or heavy, with a delicious dipping sauce. For our main meal, we tried several options with the plan of having leftovers and taking some home to our son. My chicken schnitzel was delicious, with a light breading and a sauce you’d want to take a bath in. My husband’s burger was extremely juicy. Truffle fries and tator tots were a great choice of sides. The chicken Parmesan flatbread was a huge hit with our son, and we tried some ourselves. Definitely would order again. The tiramisu was the best I’ve had. We ended up joining their brew club, as the benefits offered were well worth it. Both Gina and Serena made our experience feel like visiting family. I can already tell this will be a regular...

From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting. TR combines the best of both worlds—craft beer excellence with sleek, contemporary design. It features stylish décor, and a well-thought-out layout that feels more upscale than a traditional taproom. Think polished wood or stone countertops, ambient lighting, and a mix of industrial and minimalist aesthetics.
The staff was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, making great recommendations based on my preferences. I want to give a huge shoutout to Stephen, Tony, and Michaela on delivering exceptional service.
The craft beer selection was outstanding—every brew I tried was fresh, flavorful, and expertly crafted. Whether you’re into hoppy IPAs, smooth stouts, or crisp sours, there’s something for everyone. I would definitely however, recommend the bananas foster dobroy nochi stout if you’re looking for something exquisite.
I didn’t however get to try any food this time but the food menu seemed to pair perfectly with the beer, with options that would elevate the whole experience.
Overall, this place is a must-visit for craft beer lovers, and a space where craftsmanship meets sophistication, offering a refined yet approachable environment for beer lovers and foodies alike. Looking forward to their beer garden...
