It was a sunny Oklahoman day, the light breaking through the clouds was overcast only by my internal melancholy. Seeking vice amongst the overwhelming luxury of Bartlesville I turned to the red apple. Exiting my car. Briskly pacing through the front doors. Approaching the counter. “Hello!” “Hello? Interaction, great.”, I thought sarcastically. “Response, now.”, I looked up as I began to speak. “He-“, I tried to talk. “He’s cute,” the thought looped in my head, seemingly for hours, and before I could even respond he met my stutters with his own soulful voice. “How can I help you today? Looking to bowl? My names Bryson by the way, nice to meet you!” His words like a shot of adrenaline, waking me up and bringing me to in the midst of my heart’s mid day slumber. “Yes I’d like a lane please,” the only response I could muster. “You’ll be on lane three, just come and see me when you get done… oh and what shoe size do you need?” “6” “6? Pretty small feet huh?” “ye-yeah,” I responded preceding an awkward chuckle.
I bowled.
I bowled again.
The whole night I bowled with him on my mind. His visage a stain on my irises. His sound echoing throughout my soul, repeating… louder… louder… “please.”
I had to leave, I had to go home and forget. Approaching the counter, “leaving Already?” It was him again. With new found confidence I struck up a conversation with him. “Where are you from?” “What’s your name?” “Where do you work?” He spoke intently.
I countered each question, the conversation in a blur, bound to hault abruptly as we were interrupted.
“T.J. Maxx,” I shot out the answer to his final question as another man approached from behind him. A gentle touch on Bryson’s shoulder announced his presence, “oh hey Jonah!” Bryson spoke gleefully, but the bass had been subtracted from his voice, his manhood stripped away from one touch. He glared at Jonah with a certain glint in his eyes- joy. Following his eyes to meet Jonah’s face I noticed the same alluring expression. Love. This was it. Who am I to destroy it?
“Have a good day,” I spoke speedily and left just as such. My flicker of hope, my glint of happiness, the smudge of joy erased from my life in an instant, for the sake of...
Read moreLanes didn't work properly. We asked specifically for lanes together on the far side opposite of the bathrooms. We were clumped down between other birthday parties and some of our guests even put gifts on the wrong table because there was not really separated at all. One of our lanes could not have bumpers. Obviously an issue when it's a child's birthday party. They all wanted bumpers. Ended up having to wait for another party to end so that we could be moved to that lane. Our lanes are no longer together at this point. One of our lanes ended 30 minutes earlier than the other because of the lane debacle. No apology, no anything from the kids working there. Heck, offer me a soda for the trouble at least. The kids working there were nearly worthless. Food was great though!! Bottom line: there's no lack of room for improvements here. Women's bathroom was pretty...
Read moreThere are so many great things to say about this place from the prices and food to the staff and the bowling! The prices are honestly a lot less expensive than driving to a town near by like tulsa and paying more for a game. The food is enjoyable and never disappoints. The staff is absolutely amazing! My friend and I bowl multiple times a week and after watching us struggle to learn they have been more than willing to help in so many different ways! Their customer service is super friendly and almost every single day Tiffany is there working hard along with everyone else! We appreciate the hard work respect and help from the entire staff! The bowling is always fun and almost...
