We've been looking for a good, not run-of -the-mill Asian restaraunt to eat at in Bartlesville. So many of the Chinese restaraunts here have had the exact same buffet as the others. I don't really enjoy that kind of Asian food. To my knowledge, true Asian cultures didn't deep fry anything. Traditional Chinese food may be fried, but it is not the main cooking method. Stewing, braising, baking, steaming, boiling and even fermenting, are some of the methods used to prepare traditional Chinese dishes.
Sushi One does not follow the practice of deep frying everything that is purchased from a truck. This is very authentic Japanese cuisine. We both had the "Bento box" meals, I had steak and Betsey had chicken. My steak was cooked perfectly, Betsey's chicken was moist, not dry and very flavorful. My meal came with crab rangoon and it was the real deal. Light and fluffy, filled with real cream cheese...fantastic! In addition, an excellent soup accompanied the meal as an appetizer The food was excellent.
The restaraunt is in a little strip mall, if you didn't know it was there, it's hard to see from the highway. Please do not let the looks of the interior turn you away. Everything was clean and neat, it's just a little dated (probably because the building is owned by some other party). It does not take away from the food. If you are one of those people that has to have the whole "visual experience" to go along with your meal, Sushi One might rip your space/time fabric into two pieces. On one hand, the interior is not very visually appealing, on the other hand the food...the food is so damn good, you had better stay to eat and try not to choke on your visual appeal!
The wait staff was very polite and professional, something you don't find at many establishments in Bartlesville anymore.
I encourage you to test out Sushi One. We had passed over this restaraunt many times for what I would now call "inferior food". I wish we had come here years ago, we wouldn't have had to look around for another...
Read moreThey were quick! Shouldn't have to say anything else, but you wouldn't understand without an explanation. Walked in the door, the hostesses was there in seconds and sat us. She immediately asked us what we wanted to drink. She came back to give us the drinks, at a suitable time, about eight minutes later, serveved drinks and ask us what we wanted to eat . . . six of us. She took our orders with no confusion. We hade our plates of food in about 10 minutes after that. We literally started eating in a sit down, order with a waitress, restaurant exactly 20 minutes after. The food was delicious. I didn't eat just from my plate, either. One to 10, the food was an eight. The rest of my family was very satisfied with their dishes too. We all, however, were extremely impressed with the beautiful waitress and her expediency, and we were all pleased with the food. After leaving, my family even said, that...
Read moreThis place is great. Staff is friendly, and usually not crowded unless it is a Friday night. You will (generally) have a harder time parking than getting to a table.
The sushi is very good quality, and I've had every roll but those with eel. Don't believe the person who said the rolls are $15; regular California, Philidelphia, etc rolls are about $8. They have a decent selection of these cheaper rolls, but if you are in the mood for the premium kind they do average at $13, costing anywhere from $12 to $16. You can find some really good lunch deals though.
They also serve hibachi, although it is not a high end place where a chef makes it at your table. That does make it cheaper though, so the most expensive hibachi is about $21 (if I remember right) for the filet mignon option.
I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants an enjoyable, budgetable Asian...
