I really enjoy it when we have the extra time to go here. It's about 20 minutes further than the one we normally go to. Everything is cleaner. Let's just get that out of the way. Not that the other AMC isn't clean. This one is just cleaner. We have never had to pour our drinks out and start over at a new fountain here at AMC16. Nor have we used the family restroom and then sanitized again when we left the restroom at AMC16. Because we always go to the Sunday matinee, we expect a clean theater floor. I have never worried about my purse touching the floor if I had to. Enjoyed the visit here at AMC16!
NOW, this part is a review about AMC Theater overall. My husband was in a wheelchair these past few years. He isn't anymore, but I am now for places that have a lot of stairs or a lot of walking. Your doors are just wide enough for an older, bulkier wheelchair. It was a little tight on the bathroom door at AMC16 but fit. But they are in no way wheelchair friendly. We use the family restroom so my husband can assist me. Going into the building, if you don't have assistance with you, you would have to wait for a kind soul to help. Never have I had an employee to offer assistance entering or exiting, NOT even the ticket takers sitting just inside the building. And the doors are very heavy. There also should be a foot ramp from the top of the theater room. If there was ever a reason you couldn't leave through the elevator, that could be tragic when I think of natural disasters, fires, and power outages. Anything that might keep you from being able to leave out the top exits with no ramp access to the bottom floor in the room. It always feels like a risk every time we go. I even want to mention gun violence in these kinds of settings over the past years. What ifs are real concerns. So what if the gunman is blocking anyone from being able to leave out the top. If you're in a wheelchair you have no exit. I hope these thoughts reach someone who will consider the idea of making the changes. I believe they would make your theaters more disabled friendly. It isn't always about the parking spot. That by the way you have covered and it's...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI left very concerned about the honesty of the concession staff. We attended yesterday and my underage son went to order some food. I waited about twenty feet away. My son ordered a pretzel and drink, order total about $24. They took the money and then told him that they were out of pretzels. Asked if he wanted to substitute something for the pretzel. He said fine, asked for a hot dog instead. A hot dog and a drink costs almost $14. After a few moments, I noticed two of the adult employees talking to him as he waited for his order. I went over and they were telling him that he wasn't going to get a partial refund as he'd agreed to a substitution. He argued. I went over and pointed out the ten dollar price difference between the hot dog and the pretzel. They repeated that he'd agreed to a substitution. I insisted. He'd agreed to a partial refund and a substitution. They don't get to keep the $10 difference. Finally, one of the employees handed me a ten dollar bill, saying he didn't know that there was a price difference. We left the counter as our movie was about to start, but the employees made no attempt to print out receipts or do a proper partial refund as the price difference was not exactly $10. I understand that sometimes the concessions will run out of certain items but their behavior indicated two adults trying to scam a child out of ten dollars. I have to wonder if this is a routine they run often. If you take your child to AMC, make certain that you supervise every interaction to make sure that no dishonest employee tries to take advantage of your child.
Follow up Received a call from AMC about the incident. The call came from the man who refunded my ten dollars and identified himself as manager. He says that he'd told it was a different item, not the pretzel, and said they'd filled out three different pieces of paper on the incident. Of course, we never saw this paperwork which should have indicated the amount owed for the refund so he should have known precisely what was going on. If something seems shady, it...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAMC 16 was AMAZING yesterday. In a showing for Halloween Ends (a birthday plan I've had for the last 3 of my 4 most recent birthdays), my friend and I are the only ones there, then once lights go down, a couple walk in. . . With a toddler. Yes, in a rated R horror film, where as SOON as the Previews got scary, the kid started crying out and could not be shushed by the couple who brought them. Unfortunately, I couldn't hold my tongue and loudcapped, "Really?? A BABY in a rated R horror movie??" I paid $30 to see this movie that's been building up for this finale for DECADES, but it was NEVER going to happen for me through the whole movie with a screaming child in the theater. All of a sudden, I was a racist and needed to just say that. . . The lights were already dimmed when they came in, and when they sat so close that the child was already disrupting me, I moved to the very back row hoping we wouldn't hear the baby as much. . I had no clue what the couple's ethnicity was; that's not what was disrupting my experience. When I wouldn't stand up and engage physically with her (because I shattered my ankle in a wreck a few years ago and if it breaks again it'll be amputated), I just crossed my legs and smiled. I feel so bad for the man with her because my calmness seemed to freak him out. She threw her phone at me, then DEMANDED it back (like I'mma be stupid enough to stand at the top of the stairs with this irate woman). Then proceeded back to her hysterical child ONLY to grab her huge Blue Icee and come back upstairs and DOUSE me. . Then ran frantically out of the theater before help or my friend got back to me. Guess what? I got a full refund and 4 free movie passes. And YES, I went home, changed clothes and saw the movie for FREEEEEEE.
I...
