South End Surf 'N Paddle — Local services in Beach Haven

I've done two eco-tours with the crew from South End Surf and Paddle, and both were fantastic experiences start to finish. The first tour was with my wife and was both of our first time on a SUP. Everyone was incredible at getting us comfortable on the board quickly and had us paddling the bay in no time. The second trip was this past week with my 10 year old and we had a blast! Everyone from South End treated us like family, took the extra time with her to get her comfortable and make her first trip a memorable one and a huge success.

If you are thinking about doing a SUP tour or lesson, stop looking, stop thinking and give Ken and team a call. You WILL have a blast and there is no better way to spend a morning on the island! Unsure if you can do it? These guys have you covered!

My family loved it so much we decided to take the plunge and invest in our own board today. Again South End came through with a borderline ridiculous selection of boards, and helped find the perfect board for our family. Everyone was insanely helpful, Ken personally helped us get the board setup and even made sure we got it strapped to the Jeep safe and solid for the haul home. My daughter was ready to take the next step in surfboards from foam to fiberglass. When we finally checked out South End Surf 'N Paddle on the recommendation of a good friend (8/10/25), they made us feel right at home, literally as soon as we walked in the door. Johnny B (aka Johnny Blue Eyes, as my family now refers to him) was friendly, patient, thorough, and walked us through what she should expect with each of their boards for a surfer at her level. It was a very welcomed download on everything, from boards to fins to leashes. Even though we arrived during a busy time (there was a class getting ready to head out), both Johnny B, and the entire staff, could not have been nicer or more informative.

And aside from our board experience, the store also has a ton of cool clothing and merch that differs from all of the other local places - we are so glad we went there, South End Surf is definitely worth checking out. 5...

We booked surfing lessons for two of our grandsons, aged 10 and 13. They were sooo excited and were not disappointed. Of course, as their grandparents, we thought they were absolutely adorable in their wet suits and yellow T-shirts. To them, it was not only super cool, but they also learned a lot…AND both got up on the board at least one time. It was their first time ever surfing, so it’s pretty amazing what they learned. Their instructor was TJ and he was GREAT. He kept them busy and learning and wouldn’t give up until they stood up. The beach was beautiful with the old rock jetties and great surf. The owner , from the very beginning, was helpful and nice. He overseas everything and couldn’t do it better.
