This place is horrible! They overcharge your card that you have on file. You and a fellow parent can have your child enrolled in the exact same classes, your children can be the exact same age, and you can end up paying different amounts every month! The owners are biased to parents who speak on anything regarding what they are charged every month. They allow their employees to disrespect the parents. And when you speak on the disrespect your kicked out due to their contract that they themselves do not abide by! If you like an unorganized and disfunctional atmosphere then this would be the place for you. I suggest each parent research around before ever deciding to enroll their child here
*Update 11/22/24
My opinion stands! My name is not Kirsten Davis as the owner Johnathon stated in his response. My name is what is stated above for the review I posted. This is the core of the problem. Johnathon focuses on having the last word no matter how disrespectful to prove he is in charge of the very business that loses paying customers by the dozen! His lackluster response for the blatant disrespect exhibited by someone he employs is appalling. I repeat NO ONE CAN BE SUED FOR STATING THEIR OPINION FOR A REVIEW OF A BUSINESS! No threats were made towards anyone. I gave a fair warning to families who want to see their children thrive in dance to research and look elsewhere. To even make such outlandish remarks further proves what I stated above! I do not care how great of a dancer him and his wife were. When you lack basic customer service and business skills and become money hungry your business is never going to thrive. Take these reviews that are being given as constructive criticism and do better. Then maybe you can KEEP...
Read moreComing to Shaker Dance Academy has been such a wonderful, fun-loving, experience for my daughter (4.5 years old) and myself. The environment is positive and upbeat. The owners Jon and Tracey are hands on with the kids and treat them so lovingly while engaging/redirecting them as needed. I feel lucky that my daughter is learning and developing new talents from experienced veterans who have been in the dance/film industry for decades.
Jon and Tracey are the best, they are amazing with the kids and are true professionals. The kids in class are supportive and encouraging of each other and this is a natural part of the culture there. SDA is truly a community and extensions of parents. They are supportive, flexible, and easy to work with. I love the diversity here and that all forms of dance are offered, for all ages. I couldn't image my daughter being anywhere else. She will be able to grow up in the studio.
The opportunities to grow and develop as a dancer and become a performer are endless. The experience and guidance from Jon and Tracey who actually teach these young kids, gives me confidence that I am at the right place and more importantly gives my daughter the confidence to grow and develop as well. The end of year dance concerts are amazing and a fabulous production. It showcases original choreography, passion, dedication, talent and hard work poured into every recital. It is so exciting to watch and I can't wait for my daughter to be a part of. I attended concerts before I even had kids. It's that good!
I highly recommend SDA to anyone and of all ages....
Read moreSDA was recommended to us when we discovered that our daughter is starting to take dance very seriously (it’s her THING). SDA hasn’t disappointed. What I love most is that her passion for dance is developed and supported alongside her skill set and that the instruction and opportunities meet her desire to do and be more. The other day she came home beaming because she got to choreograph! What school teaches a young child to push themselves and validates their passion at such a young age? Although she is only 7, she already has a strong understanding of the level of dedication and professionalism that a career in dance takes. SDA is a community and a family, not just a school. Plus, it’s the only truly diverse (in terms of people AND dance) school anywhere in the area. When I see negative reviews of this studio, I think there are parents out there who are looking for their kid to take up a hobby or pay a couple of bucks to prance around in a cute outfit. This isn’t that. It’s not as cheap as other schools because, frankly, you get what you pay for. The parents that leave a negative review aren’t the parents who are backstage with the kids, who are willing to rearrange their schedules and who are investing in their kids’ dedication to dance. Thank you, J&T, for keeping it real for kids of any age and for providing a safe, professional, diverse environment for kids to pursue...
