We worked with Stuart Spiegel to design a custom engagement ring, and then worked with him again to purchase both of our wedding rings. My husband found Spiegel and Sons after looking at dozens of diamonds at a large chain store and at a larger, independent (but very well known) local jewelry store. My husband am from Cleveland originally, and was in town visiting family for the holiday, but we live in Philadelphia now. Stuart worked with my husband remotely to design the ring he wanted, and Stuart delivered the perfect engagement ring in just over three weeks.

From the moment we found Stuart, he did everything he could to accommodate us and make the experience special. The diamonds he showed him were absolutely magnificent compared to the 25 or more he had seen earlier that day at other retailers. It is hard to explain, but there is something about Spiegel and Sons, and their diamonds, that sets them apart. Stuart was always responsive, and followed through on everything he promised and more. He is so honorable and genuine, and it seems like he really enjoys the work he does, which made working with him easier and even more enjoyable for us. We trusted him immediately.

My husband proposed on a Tuesday, in Philadelphia, one week before Christmas Day. On his fault, the ring was a full size too small. It arrived back to Stuart on Friday morning for resizing, and despite his business being super busy, and it being the week before Christmas, he resized it before the end of business day that same day. For no charge. Which was December 21st, the last business day before Christmas Eve!

My engagement ring is gorgeous, so sparkly, and totally blew us away. The pictures truly do not do it justice. Everyone who sees it has the same reaction - this ring is something special, just like Stuart. I cannot possibly say in this review how wonderful my experience with Stuart Spiegel was. I got my engagement ring from Spiegel and Son and I couldn’t possibly be happier. When looking for an engagement ring I had a couple of things I wanted: first, I had heard so many horror stories about engagement rings with diamonds falling out - I work with my hands and I’m a resident doctor with very little time off to look for and replace lost diamonds. I wanted a jeweler who would prioritize a structurally sound ring over a beautiful and dainty, but unstable, ring. I also decided I wanted a very light pink diamond. The other jewelers in Cleveland told me finding a light pink diamond would be impossible or cost me $40,000. At Spiegel and Son, my whole ring cost around $3,000. And when I gently told him I was interested in a colored stone, he immediately said “That won’t be a problem! I can’t make you anything you’d like.” By comparison, at Diamonds Direct, the retailer had told me that a colored stone would be impossible to find anywhere and would quickly go out of style. Then that same retailer assured me “You just don’t know what you want. You’ll be happier with a clear diamond.” After that experience, working with Mr. Spiegel (which would have been lovely no matter what) was even more wonderful! He was professional and accessible. He bought the diamonds and let me see them before I committed to a ring design and put down a down payment. I would recommend Stuart to anyone in search of jewelry, especially an engagement ring!

When my now fiancé and myself went in for the first time, Stuart was very patient, kind, and answered all of our questions. I didn’t intend on purchasing a ring that day as it was the first time we went ring shopping together and I really just wanted to get a feel for what she liked/wanted (it should be a surprise anyways, gents). When we left, Stuart said he wouldn’t bother me and would wait for me to reach back out.

Sure enough, I hadn’t heard from him until I reached back out 3-4 months after the initial visit, when I was finally ready and comfortable. It was a bit refreshing, as many salesmen can have a tendency to be pushy.

The price was very fair, Stuart was a pleasure to buy from, and everything went about as smoothly as it could’ve. Lastly, if you like supporting local business, buy from Spiegel and Son’s! The setting I purchased was crafted by a local goldsmith, not from some company in New York who mass-produces rings. I believe he is potentially the only employee as well, which made the experience very tailored and personal.
