I’ve worked in retail before, so I try to be a thoughtful shopper. I put things back on hangers, stay aware of store hours, and do my best to make things easier for the staff. That’s why my recent experience at this TJ Maxx location was disappointing.
I stopped in for a quick errand before a trip, fully aware of the store’s closing time. About 15 minutes before close, announcements started coming over the speakers very frequently—almost every minute—which created a stressful atmosphere. I was finishing up and heading toward the register a few minutes before 9:30, but the announcements became increasingly intense. At exactly 9:30, they said the registers were closing, even though I was right there and ready to check out.
I completely understand that closing time means employees are ready to head home. It’s been a long day, and everyone deserves rest. But the way it was handled made me feel more like an inconvenience than a customer.
Earlier that evening I had been at Old Navy, where I checked out shortly before closing, and the staff was kind and welcoming. They even asked if I needed help. The contrast really stood out.
This isn’t a complaint about the policies. It’s more about the tone and overall experience. I just wish it had been handled with a bit more grace. Going forward, I’ll likely shop elsewhere where the customer experience feels...
Read moreThis happened three days ago and I can't believe how I was treated. A week or so ago I bought a box of honest brand diapers at tjmaxx when I got home I realized I purchased the wrong size. So a few days later I bring them back to tjmaxx. I lost my receipt but I figured I could at least get store credit. I go up to the register and tell the woman I wanted to return the diapers. She asks if I have the reciept . I tell her I lost it . She looks around the diaper box to see if there was a tjmaxx price sticker on it which there was it said $14.99. Then she says really loud to the employee next to her " did you ever see these here before? I never seen them" totally implying that I was trying to pull a scam or something! You called it lady I was trying to scam $14.99 of store credit ! Then I say well when I bought them there were a few Other boxes. She then gives me the rudest look Like I was lying. And then says okay well I will only be able to give you store credit. I say that's fine . Then she gives me a gift card and says have a nice day with an attitude ! I still can't believe the way I was treated , like I was trying to steal or something. So rude and I spend so much money here someone has to have a talk with her about customer service or fire her! She has blonde hair with glasses and her hair was in...
Read moreThe store really needs to do something about the panhandling that goes on outside on their property. You cannot walk in there without being harassed by someone. They’re either asking for money or they’re just harassing in general. The police have no say unless the store itself reports them because they’re on their property. I feel for homeless people, I really do but it is not the job of the public people who earned their money to pay for these people. If they weren’t allowed to sit outside like that, they might actually get one of the thousands of jobs that are out there.
Unfortunately, for me, will not be returning to this store & will drive all the way to bluffton because this doesn’t happen (as often) out there. Get a better handle of who you allow to solicit...
