Can't recommend this place enough! Impressive selection, very courteous and friendly staff, and some of the most competitive prices you'll be able to find, often beating out alternatives like eBay. They also have the knowledge and customer service to back up their products--I had an issue with a PS1 that I had purchased from the store, but I was well outside of the reasonable return window. Unfortunately, I left a negative review on the store out of my frustration, instead of calling the store to talk about the issue. I do NOT recommend you do this, especially to small businesses. Regardless, I received a prompt and professional reply that said he stands behind his service and products, and that he'd be happy to take a look at it if I could call and bring it in. Sure enough, when I came into the store, he had another one that had already been cleaned and tested and set aside for me, and gave me a demonstration that it was functioning fine. I'm from out of town and can only get up this way every few months, so the fact that he was willing to honor a replacement outside of the window due to my situation really spoke to how he runs his business. I also had a unique request regarding buying a loose manual for a game, but not the game itself, as I like to collect complete-in-box but was missing a manual. While not a usual kind of purchase, he was able to work something out for me, and I got to complete my collection. Retro Gaming Asylum is a lesson to not only game stores, but small businesses all around. Any time you can find a business with this kind of excellent management and customer service, you can't help but want to do more business with them, both to support the store and the owner, but to also find some sweet deals on all of the retro and modern games and consoles you could want. I can't recommend this store enough, and am looking forward to visiting again as often as...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy husband has visited a few times. It's true, the owner seems like a nice guy. However, I wish he had more quick thinking in his business skills. Here's what happened. My husband is looking an item, not highly sought after at this time. Listed on the shelf for $25. We had some accessories to trade. The controller was accidentally dropped from the counter top while the gentleman was hooking it up to test it. But when it didn't work, he wouldn't take the trade of $10. I get it, how could he truly know it was working even before he dropped it? Well here's where I was perplexed.... He was only going to give us $10 for the controller along with the $15 in CASH. In most stores, especially small business, the "you break it, you buy it" is understood. I'm not saying he was responsible to purchase it but what I'm saying is he was offered $15 cash and a trade for a $25 item. I would've eaten the $10 for the trade and taken $15 cash and made more room for more sought after items. That $10 could have paid for a word-of-mouth referral or a different kind of online review. In fact, if it was me, I would have told the guy I was doing this trade as a favor and then solicited him to please give my company a really good review online.
This review is not meant to tear down his business or him as a person. This review is here for all small business owners and managers to learn. I'm trying to use my knowledge as the manager of a small business to help other small businesses stay current and lucrative and adjust to changing markets. But you must know, we appreciate your small business in BF! Just don't get stuck! Keep thinking about how you can use your customers to pay for your marketing....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIāll start off by saying there is decent prices on the video games and the store is very organized. But the owner is a bit rude. I was in there a few times and heās been very uncaring everytime and talks as if he thinks heās better than you. Almost like heāll only treat you with respect if youāre spending money. They also creepily watch shoppers, kind of peeking around a corner to watch you. Probably to make sure youāre not stealing but itās still kind of weird to experience. Iāve heard good things about this place but I didnāt really have a good experience. I really hope next time heās a bit more welcoming because I like this location but it doesnāt...
