My family took 3 Boer goats to auction on Saturday, November 9th, 2019. When we arrived no one was taking in goats. We waited at least 10 minutes and no one showed up to check them in, so we went to the front office. Finally got someone to help us. We took in 1 registered and DNA tested buck (ennobled top and bottom) out of Ruger with his registration & DNA papers, 1 register-able doe, and 1 wether. Prior to bringing in our goats, we had called the office and were told to write down everything about their papers and to bring the information in with us. They assured us, over the phone, that they would be sure to announce their registration statuses, as they took great pride in selling quality, registered livestock. When we were checking the goats in, we confirmed that they understood that JB (Golden Acres Jim Bean) was registered and DNA verified and that it would be announced at auction. They assured us that his credentials would be announced.
We just received the sale info today, and they sold our registered, DNA verified breeding buck as an UNREGISTERED BILLY and sold him BY THE POUND rather than by the head!!! Please tell me how they managed to screw that up? We believe the failure to disclose his papers was intentional to keep his price down or someone "accidentally" put his papers with another buck. We will be watching for him to be sold (very possibly by someone affiliated with auction employees) for MUCH more than the $143 that the auction sold him for or watching for some other buck to be sold with his papers (Jokes on you. He's DNA verified!).
This is not the first time we have had problems with this auction. Several years ago, they sold the same goat twice in one auction, and we had to argue to get either the goat or our money back. They have also loaded goats we purchased onto other people's trailers and we had to step in and get management involved.
We will never go back to this auction and we highly recommend that if you are looking for or selling quality livestock, find somewhere else to buy or sell. We have found these people to be...
Read moreDropped a horse (570) off on 5/12/23 around 10 AM. Went to the sale just to make it to the end to find out my horse was never added to the system. Martha was a sweetheart about it and apologized. My check was wrong once it was written so when it was brought to their attention Bryan (kill pen owner) got super mouthy and was very unprofessional. I took my horse back home with me. We will no longer be doing any type of business with the livestock auction or the Quitman kill Pen. If it wasn’t for the attitudes we received tonight our opinions might be different. Definitely expected a lot more out of a somewhat well...
Read moreI would give them a 5 star but one vendor really irritated me when I was there the other day. They were talking to somebody, and instead of one of the vendors helping me, they ignored my questions. Very disrespectful! All they had was money on their mind. Make that sale. Little did they know, they almost made 2 sales. But I am not buying from a rude person. Plus I drove all the way out there, 1 hour and half from my house, and most vendors were packing up around 1:30 or 2 on a nice day. To me that isnt...
