Accommodations and Vehicle Choice
Place was great, although I would seriously listen to vehicle recommendations. You will likely need 4WD and/or snow chains for the location on Upper Snowbird Trail. We got stuck in the snow twice. First time we pulled back into the driveway and packed up to leave early because of winter storm warning. Family used shovels at the house to clear out the road off the driveway. Then we got stuck again after making it up Upper Snowbird Trail. Thank God, a Good Samaritan helped us and guided us to safety. Morale of the story, if you're staying on Upper Snowbird Trail, get 4WD and probably have snow chains installed. We thought we had a 4WD because I incorrectly assumed that 4WD was standard on a Chevy Surburban, it isn't and it turned out ours was 2WD. Unfortunately, didn't realize it until we were stuck in the snow 😒
Driving There
Also, if you're squeamish about tight roads and mountain driving where one miscalculation could send you down a mountain side, Beech Mountain is probably not the place to go! For me, it was about 80-90 minutes of stressful driving. Shulls Mill Road is by far the worst. It is only a little over 5 miles, but it was 5 miles of hell. Never again!
In summary, house was great, Beech Mountain Ski Resort was great, driving in the mountains was...
Read moreThe facility was adequate. Sufficient room and places to store belongings, also a positive was each room could be climate controlled individually. The unit was is great need of cleaning and organizing especially in the kitchen. Lots of stuff in drawers and cabinets that should have been organized or discarded prior to our arrival. The carpets were in need of a good vacuuming. There were also several light bulbs that were either burnt out or non-existent in the dining area and living room. I would have expected the dishwasher would have been emptied and dishes put away and the floors would have been vacuumed prior to our arrival. Proximity to the slopes was very good and the Activity Center with a Pool, hot tub and game room was a...
Read moreWe stayed at Pinnacle Inn (#3121) and had a lovely time! The condo was clean, well-appointed, and perfect for our family (2 adults, 2 kids). Having coffee, laundry detergent, and dishwasher tabs provided was such a nice surprise, compared with most rentals I've experienced! We also enjoyed playing some of the games, watching netflix on the tv, and building fires in the fireplace! There were plenty of great sledding spots we could walk to easily. Carl was helpful with info ahead of time and responsive when we had an issue with the wifi. He even took the time to find and return a stuffed animal one of my kids left. Highly...
