WOW! WOW! WOW!!!!SUGAR MOUNTAIN TUBING IS TOTALLY AMAZING!!!! A little back story first. I’m 78 years old, disabled for 10 years and from Georgia. I never got to play in “real” snow. We might get a little, but not really enough to play in. I decided that if I was ever going to “play in the snow,” tubing would be the only option left for me. I’m in pretty good shape, I just don’t have any balance. My amazing husband agreed to take me to SUGAR MOUNTAIN TUBING. IT was very crowded on Friday and Saturday. We tried to get tickets for 6pm on Saturday but they sold out! Thank goodness!!! It rained all day Sunday so we just rode around and went back to the hotel and watched football. Monday we decided to try again. We headed to Sugar Mountain Tubing to see if they still had long lines. NO LINES AT ALL! I still wasn’t sure exactly how I was going to manage. We went to the starting point and met several wonderful workers. We explained my situation and they said, “No problem!” I still wasn’t sure how they were going to make this happen. My new best friend, Ed, and another helper helped me into the tube. He explained that he would ride tandem with me. Pull me down the slopes and keep me from turning over. So off we went, it was wonderful! We flew down to the end, another helper came over and helped pull me, still in the tube, over to their Magic Carpet which carried us to the top. Ed stayed right by my side. When we got to the top, another helper came over, picked the tube with me in it, and took me back to the starting point and off we were again. I was yelling and screaming like a teenager on a roller coaster. The kids on the other lanes were laughing and waving and they thought I was crazy. I felt like a teenager! Ed took me up and down 10-12-14 times. I wasn’t counting, I was having to much fun. I can truly say SUGAR MOUNTAIN TUBING was a great adventure and I could not have asked for them to be any more helpful. I would give them a 10 STAR RATING! THANK YOU ED, ALLTHE OTHER HELPERS AND SUGAR MOUNTAIN TUBING for helping me cross one more thing off of my “bucket list!” ...
Read moreAbsolute nightmare! We drove all the way from Raleigh hoping to see some snow and go snow-tubing. We left at 9am hoping to get tickets for the 2pm slot. Got there 30 minutes before 1pm - wasted SO much time in a traffic jam trying to get to parking (and let me tell you, the parking lots are TINY and aren’t designed for THAT many visitors). I dropped my husband and son off by the tubing entrance to get tickets while I park (tix go on sale at 1pm for the 2 o’clock spot). Well, while I was circling around for 50 minutes trying to find a parking spot, my guys were stuck in a giant line trying to get tickets. They allow only 150 tickets at a time, so they were in line all that time hoping they would be lucky to be in the 150 crowd (you couldn’t see exactly how many people are in front). After I finally got a spot, they called me and said tickets were sold out.
Pointless trip all the way from Raleigh and left the place in a very irritated mood because driving around for almost an hour looking for a parking spot was not in my plan, especially after such a long way from Raleigh.
I would NEVER come back to this place. We’ve been to Hawk’s Nest before and had a blast. There are many more lanes there vs one tiny lane at Sugar Mountain. We wouldn’t have gone to Hawk’s nest instead but the tickets were sold out for this weekend and we thought if we got to Sugar Mountain a bit earlier, we could be lucky, but the whole messy parking situation guarantees that you will not make it to tubing if you aren’t there 3 hours before tickets go on sale.
The ticket sales person told my husband that we could stick around at their cafe, and then get in line super early for the 4pm tubing. You mean, stick around the Entire day waiting for one tiny lane? Went hiking instead.
Honestly, it’s an archaic system that you aren’t able to buy tickets online. Outdated, inefficient and wasting so many people’s time. Not in pace with the times.
NOT Recommended, unless you are patient enough to wait for hours in the car to get a parking slot and then be stuck for hours in line for the tickets. A NO-NO for...
Read moreThis was the worst experience I have ever had in my life trying to tube here!!!! I have done a lot of sledding and tubing in my days. All over this country as well as Europe. ALWAYS ALWAYS after a decent snow. We are a family of 8 and drove just over two hours to take our six kids tubing. We purchased the tickets online and you are charged a $2 fee per ticket. Ultimately, no one to watch you scan your ticket. So you could’ve scanned the same ticket eight times if you wanted. (Unbelievable) There were about 40 people at 2pm for tubing and not a single one of us could get our tubs to even move. Several of us tried riding double and that also failed. So basically, you spit your time walking down the run and then waiting 20 min to get back up to the top because the Escalator kept breaking. Everyone was very upset and miserable and we tried discussing it with several employees who very rudely told us they didn’t care and it wasn’t their problem. When I ask if we could speak to someone higher up And make an appointment. I have never in my life seen worse costumer service and I have worked in the industry for over 20 years. Ultimately, our family paid $400 to go down the run maybe twice. We spent 4 1/2 hours in a car. This was part of their Christmas. I would’ve happily taken a voucher for any other day. I didn’t even want my money back. I just wanted it to be remedied and for them to do the right thing. There were folks all the way from Florida, Ukraine, even west coast and everyone was just appalled. The parking is even worse there are three levels of parking. Good luck trying to fit or find a spot, especially if you have a larger vehicle when they run out of parking they start lining them up behind you so then you cannot leave because you’re blocked in. I do not recommend beach Mountain...
