The one star I am giving this place is for the friendly front desk girls. If you’re looking for a place that feels like 1980s, smells like mold, has hard beds and horrible WiFi this is your place. The first night we were put in a room with a Murphy bed. Why rooms designed for people to sleep in have Murphy beds is very strange. The bed was very hard. We were able to move rooms and the second room had 2 queen beds, both were still very uncomfortable. The sheets we’re thankfully clean. The WiFi is so poor we could not use our laptops to catch up on work. Our heat in our room went in and out. The room smelt of dampness. Taking a shower is fun game of finding the exact right spot for the temperature in between sounding and frigid. The hallways have a faint scent of cigarette smoke mixed with mold. The hallway ceilings are decorated with water stains. We went to the gym and the book that was labeled with workout routines were all covered in mold. With our windows only the wood part of the dual pane would close, the metal part is stuck open so the whole night we can here cold wind blowing hard against the window. We were supposed to stay Saturday-Tuesday, on Monday the front desk called our room telling us their hot water would be out for several hours... in fact all the water was out. We left that day and ended our trip early. I would never recommend this place to anyone. They need to invest money into fixing this place up if it’s going to last. I would never return here. I’m 7 months pregnant and felt extremely uncomfortable being surrounded by mold and mildew on our little getaway before the baby arrived. It felt disgusting. I really hope they fix this place up because it’s a...
Read moreThe absolute worst hotel we’ve ever stayed in. Needed a place to stay last minute due to the bad weather. Carpets absolutely filthy, heater on wall didn’t work (it was 19F out) and there was only a small bar heater. Room was so cold at night we slept in our jackets. No working remote for the TV. Queen bed was one of those beds that flip back up into the wall with a raised place for your head so couldn’t lie flat. Comforter was so old. Pull out bed had a sheet, that was it-no comforter. Chips off the wood in room. Curtains falling down. People upstairs walking around until 2am. Door into bathroom opened in on top of the toilet. Nobody on reception when we walked in at 7pm, our key was just left in an envelope on the desk. No staff anywhere. We couldn’t even drive our SUV up their hotel entrance way as it was covered in snow that wasn’t cleared for guests…a car in front of us was stuck on it. So we had to park elsewhere and walk half a mile to hotel in the freezing cold and snow. We went to the hotel restaurant and it was absolutely freezing with rubbish thrown in the fire and a table sitting with their jackets on. We walked straight around. Left at sunrise the next morning. At $220 a night I’d recommend...
Read moreThis place is a little dated and doesn't have all of the bells and whistles. It reminds me of Cody Wyoming. Where in little mountain towns time seems to stand still which is beautiful to me. The rooms are very clean and very spacious ours had two queen beds and two pull-out couches. The kitchen was stocked beautifully with all of the appliances and things you might need. I liked that it didn't have great Wi-Fi because it forced the kids to go chill by the fire play games and drink complimentary hot chocolate. Which in itself was so beautiful to enjoy even for just a few nights remember I talked about how time can stand still in small mountain towns. Go to the free sled Hill get the visitor center in Beech Mountain and have lots of free fun and then come back cook dinner and relax by the fireplace and enjoy the quiet of the falling snow. The staff was so friendly and helpful I would recommend this place to those who are willing to take it easy and go with the flow and see the beauty where they are, and aren't afraid to shoot pool with sticks that have no felt because we all know it's the player...
